I built myself a medium format camera with spare camera parts and some stuff from aliexpress. It's still missing a proper grip and focus markings. Designing the body so the focus tube focuses exactly to infinity at its shortest was too difficult with 3d printed tolerances, so I left a millimeter of room and will just adjust the focus markings accordingly.
Eugh, I’m having a really hard time visualising the #3dprinted enclosure for my seven segment clock project. Can’t quite decide how to take it to the next level.
My #3DPrinted #MorseCode key design is coming along.
The cover/handle works really well, I think. I printed it just long enough to be comfortable in my hand. Someone else might want it shorter or longer.
Meanwhile, I've also designed a belt mount. The belt goes through slots in a base that goes under the key, and it goes over the key to make it a solid fit. I could have done one where the belt goes underneath, but this seems like it would be more solid. Then the key slides into a block that swivels, and a few more thumb nuts lock it into any location you like within 40° left or right of center.
This is extremely parametric. The height of the block, the allowed degrees of swing, how thick and wide the belt are, how wide the whole thing is; most of the dimensions are derived from parameters.
This is the second revision of the base and swivel. The first version didn't swivel far enough, the key wasn't raise up far enough above my leg, and the whole thing was too wide. If the key isn't high enough, I inadvertently TX from my pants leg fabric brushing the key. This is because I have the key set to maybe 0.5mm travel to each side; it's quite sensitive. On this iteration, it's slightly too narrow; I can only fit a thin belt through it because the thumb nuts that lock the swivel in place interfere. The next version will be just a little wider.
I think I'm ready for some beta testers! Folks who don't mind running FreeCAD to adjust parameters and print multiple copies to adjust for the filament they are using could help make this good for others. Any #HamRadio #AmateurRadio CW enthusiasts also enjoy 3d printing and want to try this?
While looking for new hardware for our home server (a 19'' mini rack server is very tempting...), I just came across project #minirack
10" rack server builds using a mix of off-the-shelf commercial and #diy #3dprinted mounts, panels, frontplates etc.
Looks interesting (and the mini racks are also rather cute).
Maybe interesting to some of you.

If anyone wants to have a go at 3D Printing him, my Star Wars Pit Droid is now live on #printables ! (I would appreciate a boost if you can spare it ) :)

Over a month of development went into this little guy! Can’t wait to share him with the world this weekend! #StarWars #Droid #PitDroid #Scifi #3dprinting #3dprinted #maker

Fully #3dprinted and #painted #28mm #Aliens APC. First time I used LEDs for some lightening effects in a #miniature Project. Hope you like it!
The video went out, and it is doing well! https://youtu.be/ZVFB2g25OkM
Oooh another video using toner transfer to put text on #3dprinted components - this time #keyboard #keycaps . I think I need to get me some toner transfer fluid and give this a try!
Robot Acceptance Factor is acceptable. I'll find out later whether it knocks the ramp away when cleaning the hallway.

I measured the door frame on the right and designed the ramp to fit around it. But of course the frame isn't symmetric, and the left end doesn't fit. That end is going to have an unpleasant encounter with Mr. Dremel...

I am printing a ramp to help our robot vacuum get over the threshold into the laundry room. Three of four sections are printed, plus a couple of test prints in black. I'm trying to use layer lines as a design element. N.B., the herringbones are not parallel -- they're straight at the edges and diagonal in the middle. I got the effect by lofting from a flat edge to a shallow sawtooth and back.
PolyTerra Limestone Marble matte PLA.

For the stocking themselves I finally made a sort of "name tag" so that people could figure out which stocking goes to who. I semi-randomly pick stockings to fill based on how much stuff needs to go into them, so I've never sewn names onto them. Instead I made custom #3DPrinted pins of things that certain people are very into. For my mom an alligator, Snoopy for my dad, "caffeine" for my sister, and of course the #RetroBattlestations logo for me.
I have been working on a few things behind the scenes as of late. One of which is a gift for my brother, who is a big League of Legends and Arcane fan. I’m happy with how this came out, but more importantly he was as well!
"I'm not even interested in the tree, I'm just sitting under here because it's comfy"
Taking as few chances as possible since this is Parsnip's first Christmas with us so we have the tree screwed to an unused kitchen shelf (with custom-made #3dPrinted washers designed in #OpenSCAD) to try to keep it upright if anything should happen to, say, climb into it #CatsOfMastodon
This is one of those "I can't believe it worked on the first try" posts.
This is three sides of a printed cube. It's made of clear PLA. It's 50mm on a side with 1mm thick walls. It snaps together.
@jasoncoon can probably see where this is going...
Check it out! I made a #RetroBattlestations pin! It’s #3DPrinted in two pieces, with a slot for a safety pin. Just insert the safety pin then snap the two halves together. #maker #crafts #3DPrint #3DPrinting
