It's been difficult to come up with #3GoodThings but two wonderful moments happened this weekend (not for me, for my friends).

One friend got married. A few years ago his long-term relationship ended through infidelity and dishonesty in a way that nearly broke him. So to see him marry a wonderful woman and be so happy to have found "his person" was really touching and a great chapter in his story arc.

Then another friend got engaged (again). He was someone who I'd never heard of in a relationship but is the loveliest and most decent human around. Then he found his person, another incredible woman who I became friends with by default because she's so ace. So technically, he proposed to her a few months ago and she wears a ring. Well, yesterday she revealed the ring she'd had custom made for him and she proposed to him at sunset. It was another "yes".

So I don't have 3 good things, per se. But I do feel a deep gladness that the people around me have found such loving partners when all looked lost. I don't think I'll ever get to experience these kinds of emotionally charged moments but these people did, and that's very, very wonderful.

doing #3GoodThings bc I dont know about you but I categorically love good things, and the number 3 which was once given to me as a gift by the good people at Sesame Street

1. demolished another great exercise sesh

2. I love how I can just go back in time and speak with my past self whenever I want. that meditation is indistinguishable from time travel to me.

3. I can sweat without stinking, and I am pretty glad I figured out how to do that because I am pretty much always sweating bro

- fantastic day in the woods, so much green everywhere!

- downloaded all my past photos from Google photos to prepare for one day dropping all Google products

- backing up my hard drive onto an external to prepare for installing MX Linux version MX-25 when that gets released later this year

While I did have some anxiety today, I also managed to recognize #3GoodThings.

1) Slept in VERY late, was not wakened by the dog asking to go out, and did not feel like I wasted this time as it was raining and gloomy outside.

2) Finished The Bezzle, another excellent novel by @pluralistic

3) Avoided having to make dinner thanks to the whole family having leftovers from last night's visit to our amazing local pub.

Bonus: game night and more reading ahead!

Hello there...every day that I use Mastodon, I like to list three things that I like as a contribution towards a positive online space, as well as my own headspace. If you did this today, what would feature on your list?

01. Have some nice over-night oats made with strawberries and pineapple in
02. Finished a very interesting book on Shakespeare's heroes
03. listened to "Different Class" by Pulp

Hope whoever reads this can have a nice day.

#3GoodThings

• Having an overall peaceful day despite noisy machines through hours of it, because I’m learning to let the noise wash through me, as the rest of the forest does: not comfortably, but with a certain equanimity

• Feeling increasingly held by the land

• Finishing one book (The Bone People) and, after a pause to let it sink in, starting another (Snow Falling on Cedars)

1. Bought my youngest son 3 football (soccer) shirts
2. Shot some footage of Hoi An, Vietnam rooftops
3. Posted a rant about the draft dodging felon shamelessly demanding Ukraine's surrender to Putin's mafia state and calling it a "peace proposal"

I have a spreadsheet of recurring tasks that I've been trying to get myself into the habit of using for oh.. fifteen years or so now, in digital but originally on paper. I'm toying with the idea of posting them daily with the hashtag #StuffIDidToday . I've considered using #3GoodThings but this is more just a list of basic hygiene and tidiness tasks that most people do automatically such as brushing teeth, shower, wash clothes, etc.

This sounds so dumb now that I've typed it out. *sigh*

#3GoodThings

1. Learned some new Procreate skills from my youngest daughter.
2. Finally worked out a solution to telling a better visual story with my current WIP painting
3. Picked up two books I've been wanting to read at my local bookstore.

Three good things:
-> I am so delighted by the love emanating from my sweet Belle girl kitty. Since my ex moved out, she no longer flinches when I touch her. And she is very vocal, and is doing that amazing thing of customizing her perfect sounds in interacting just with me. Really warms my heart!
-> On Monday, we officially close on selling the house, and on Tuesday, Belle and I move into our new apartment! It was cool to see at the MOD Pizza near my new home that, right by the register, there was a MOD Pizza logo with the background of a pride flag. Made me feel safe and welcomed in what could be a more conservative area.
-> Overall, making great strides forward on the many aspects of my health with many different providers. I am still amazed at finding my two physical therapy (PT) team; I've been trying for years and nearly gave up on PT.
