For ACARS Drama fans:
I have spun up a dedicated Mastodon instance for ACARS Drama, since the project has grown up quite a bit very quickly and is now posting a lot more regularly than it used to. I am very conscious of spamming timelines with non-infosec content on an infosec focused server, and understanding, that while hard to comprehend, not everyone will have the same passion or desire to be updated on aircraft coffee maker statuses as many of us.
This migration also gives us the chance to do things like have dedicated feeds for specific regions etc, so I look forward to doing all of that stuff as this project, TAKES OFF. See what I did there?
So, everything remains the same as it always did, its just that the main feed is now at @acarsdrama

#Aviation #trivia: why do do we say aircraft transponders "squawk" flight codes back to radar sites?
It's from #WWII #history. When friendly aircraft arriving in Hawaii just after the 1941 Pearl Harbor attack were shot at, a way was needed to tell friend from foe. The transponder transmits a response code back to the radar. But in war, everything needs a code name to confuse enemy spies. It was the "parrot". It stuck. And that's why we still say transponders "squawk" their codes. #avgeek #pilot

Tuesday build at the EAA hangar. We started by making some slat support backets for the nose ribs while another team identified the ribs for the wing. An encouraging start to our build as we have nice instructions, a nice kit, and nice videos to help us.

My night flight was a success. Launched shortly after sunset and flew to Wausau (KAUW) and past the ski hills. Then a jaunt back with a 30 knot tailwind making the return trip a lot faster.
