For my carbon-frame road bike, I never leave it parked out of sight in public unless it's a real quick stop (i.e. less than 10 minutes) in a relatively safe neighbourhood. I'm much more relaxed with my do-it-all bike, which I don't mind leaving unattended for up to a few hours.
