Sander Meijer<p>After work, work and work, finally found the time (and energy) to go for my first bike ride of the year. Had to pass out cheap sunglasses along the ride to the public to protect them from my dazzling white legs. While riding uphill some walking ducks overtook me by surprise. The very nice spring sun felt like a scorching heatwave. Brendan Casey 🇮🇪🥦🚴🇪🇺<p>A superb solo Sunday 50km ride on the Grav-i-Ti. Picked up the Peak Forest canal, near home, all the way to Disley. Then onto the hard, climby tracks around Lyme Park before heading back through Chadkirk, then back onto the canal at Romiley and head home. Lots of wildlife, including a beautiful pair of Mandarin ducks. In der Umleitung um einer langstreckige Hauptstrassensperrung ist ne Baustelle mit maximaler Fahrbahnverengung und mit duch Bauzaun abgetrennten Gehweg mit "Radfahrer frei". Normalerweise fahre ich ja lieber auf der Strasse, aber die Blechpiloten waren aufgrund der Umstände eh schon maximal agitiert, da wollte ich nicht Gefahr laufen, gerammt zu werden.<br>Der Bereich ist auch breit genug, dass an meiner Rennwanne noch ein Mensch bequem vorbeikommt.<br><br>Jedenfalls kommt mir kurz vor Ende der Strecke ein Seniorenpärchen mit Fiffi entgegen - die Sorte, denen eins schon ansieht, dass sie darauf aus sind, der wilden Jugend mal zu zeigen, wo's langgeht - Arm in Arm, Mundwinkel bis unters Doppelkinn, die Leine bzw. die Handtasche wie eine entsicherte Waffe in der Hand.<br><br>Ich nähere mich langsam.<br><br>Bleibe stehen. <br>Ganz am Rand, so dass eine Person mit Hund und Übergewicht an mir vorbeigehen könnte.<br><br>Sie kommen heran, bleiben - Arm in Arm, den Fiffi kurzgehalten - direkt vor der Lastkiste stehen.<br><br>Wir schauen uns an.<br><br>Er so: "Sie müssen hier absteigen!"<br><br>Denke kurz über eine Diskussion nach, dann denke ich mir nur so "ok, wenn ihr das so wollt" und steige ab.<br>Stehe also jetzt mit meinem knapp 70cm breitem Luxuskörper neben der 90cm breiten Rennwanne und lächle die beiden freundlich an, während ich darauf warte, dass sich da gegenüber eine Erkenntnis anbahnt.<br><br>Der Beifahrer in dem Bulli neben uns lacht.<br><br>Fiffi piselt an den Bauzaun.<br><br>Ein Tumbleweed rollt gegen eine Warnbake, in der Ferne macht ein Uhu ein Facepalm.<br><br>Er wieder: "Wie sollen wir denn jetzt hier durchkommen?"<br>Bevor ich etwas sagen kann, ruft ein Bauarbeiter: "Vielleicht lassen Sie die Dame wieder aufsteigen und lassen mal kurz Ihre Olle los, dann passt das! Jon Roach<p>An emotional rollercoaster:</p><p>Out riding yesterday and on the way home my power meter started reading 0.</p><p>"That's odd," I thought, "I didn't change the battery very long ago."</p><p>I went to change the battery and lo, the battery cover had fallen off and disappeared, together with the battery.</p><p>This was a significant setback as the manufacturer went out of business and spares are hard to come by.</p><p>On the bright side I have just bought a 3D printer, so maybe if I can find a model on the interweb then ... Yes!</p><p>So I will be spending part of today printing a new battery cover door, as the final step in commissioning the printer. Cost about 5p. (Ignoring the printer cost )</p><p>Now the battery cover also has an O-ring seal behind it. The internet yielded the dimensions and I found some on the interweb for about £5 ... plus £5 p&amp;p.
