It is easy to fall foul of #goodhartslaw and get growth figures that have lost their meaning - the experience of the last decade and a half of the German Democratic Republic is salutary! Genuine growth would go up as a result of reducing unnecessary uncertainty - for instance increasing the quality and reliability of official statistics and improving the auditing of local government - and releasing the 'animal spirits' of entrepreneurs -which could mean a change of #chancellor !

Fair enough but worth remembering that the Bank's remit and indeed the composition of its monetary policy committee are set by #hmtreasury . They could be altered given sufficient political will there - although I suspect that we may have to wait for the next #chancellor for that to happen! Looked at objectively the case for a 2% inflation target rather than say one of 4% seems less than overwhelming.

Reeves has a mighty inflated view of herself. Anyone in power doing that kind of self-praise has serious Liz Truss #Lettuce vibes. Her budget hasn’t been published or debated in Parliament yet. The few things she has done so far have been petty, unimaginative and cruel to those least well off. The rumours of what’s coming don’t sound encouraging either. @noelreports Dear #chancellor and it which way, it is assumed to happen that #putin understands this? It was for sure not easy for you to tell that they can use the weapons #germany supplied in any way, as long as it is within the boundaries of international law. Sadly very late and such delays are paid in other peoples blood.
Next step has to be to give #ukraine what it is asking for and not micromanage their war. So far they have been more then capable, handling it.

Well there are alternatives, but they would involve some creative thinking and accepting that profit taking is actually at least as big an inflation driver as wages and consumer activities.
