In 1963, a Citroën DS Safari cost £1,698. But before the 106 Electrique, there was this, the Citroën AX Electrique, which was introduced in 1993. A total of 395 were made. It was replaced in 1996 by an electric version of the Saxo, a sister car of the 106 Electrique. Met een beetje TLC en een liefdevolle nieuwe eigenaar zou deze auto nog heel lang mee moeten kunnen.</p><p>Hij staat nu op winterbanden, de zomerbanden zitten er ook bij. Woefdram<p>Er is wat parkeerschade linksvoor, iemand nam de bocht blijkbaar wat te krap. Het armatuur van mist- en dagrijlamp dat los is gekomen, zit erbij. David Wilkins<p>Yesterday I posted about the Citroën Xsara Picasso. Today we’re taking a look at its successor, the first iteration of the C4 Picasso, which was produced between 2006 and 2013. The standard C4 Picasso was a five-seater but there was also a seven-seat version, the C4 Grand Picasso. While it looked sharper than the original model featured yesterday, it was still a fairly mainstream design compared with quirkier Citroëns of the past. Oleo-pneumatic suspension was available on higher-spec cars - I think the last use of this technology - but standard cars rode on steel springs. David Wilkins<p>Today we’re sticking with the mid-range, rather than the ‘haut de gamme’, cars in the Citroën range, with this, the first-generation C5, which succeeded the Xantia (see the day before yesterday’s post) in 2000. This one, spotted locally, is a post-2004 facelifted model - the facelift sharpened up the C5’s slightly bulbous looks quite effectively. David Wilkins<p>Today, at the request of <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://river.group.lt/@mcSlibinas" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>mcSlibinas</span></a></span>, we’re looking at the Citroën BX, the predecessor of the Xantia I posted yesterday. The BX, introduced in 1982, was a sister car of the Peugeot 405, although it retained Citroën’s distinctive oleo-pneumatic suspension. I captured this early example at this year’s Festival of the Unexceptional. David Wilkins<p>Today we’re looking at the smaller sister car of yesterday’s Citroën XM. The Xantia replaced the BX in 1992, and retained Citroën’s oleo-pneumatic suspension. Higher-spec models had a developed version of the Hydractive set up, Hydractive 2. The Xantia was the last Citroën in which the same hydraulic system was used both for the suspension and other elements such as braking and steering power assistance. It didn’t attract as much attention as its predecessor at the top of Citroën’s range, the CX, or the legendary DS.
