Colin Purrington<p>When I visit Europe I'm always the guy excitedly pointing out community gardens to fellow travelers on the bus. They never care. Some day I need to book a local guide to show me around and teach me some gardening slang in French or German. <a href="https://flipping.rocks/tags/allotment" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>allotment</span></a> <a href="https://flipping.rocks/tags/garden" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>garden</span></a> <a href="https://flipping.rocks/tags/gardening" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>gardening</span></a> <a href="https://flipping.rocks/tags/travel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>travel</span></a> <a href="https://flipping.rocks/tags/europe" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>europe</span></a> <a href="https://flipping.rocks/tags/CommunityGarden" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CommunityGarden</span></a></p>

elizard<p>Inspired by Caitlin Ffrench's book Gathering Colour, I planted indigo in my <a href="https://phire.place/tags/CommunityGarden" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CommunityGarden</span></a> plot this year. I can't be arsed to deal with an indigo vat in our apartment, so I experimented with fresh leaf indigo dyeing. </p><p>Some things I learned:</p><p>1. Salt &amp; whole leaves mashed into the fabric (the shawls at each end) yielded bluer tones; blender slurry with cold water &amp; salt (the scarves in the middle &amp; the yarn) gave greener tones.</p><p>(1/2)</p><p><a href="https://phire.place/tags/naturaldyeing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>naturaldyeing</span></a> <a href="https://phire.place/tags/indigo" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>indigo</span></a></p>
Tinker ☀️<p>Potatoes are chitted.</p><p>Planted them.</p><p>It's late in the year, so we'll see if they grow fast enough to do anything or if this just serves as research and practice.</p><p>(Note: These potatoes had enough sprouts to cut them and get more plants. I decided not to do that here as I don't want to have to worry about rot. Next year I'll probably do that though)</p><p><a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/gardening" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>gardening</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/solarPunk" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>solarPunk</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/communityGarden" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>communityGarden</span></a></p>
Tinker ☀️<p>Alright, turnips and radishes are coming in nicely! (along with various weeds and grubs!)</p><p>We picked a baby radish just to see how it was doing.</p><p>I think I watered it once or twice and its rained a couple of times... but beyond that all I did was put a seed in a ground....</p><p><a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/gardening" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>gardening</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/solarPunk" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>solarPunk</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/communityGarden" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>communityGarden</span></a></p>

Uncle Karen<p>Hello fam, good morning, I'm still alive! Tinker ☀️<p>turnips or radishes or beets (I forgot what I planted here) are growing!</p><p>I have no idea what I'm doing. Just put the seeds in the ground and watered it. Forgot about it, so I went out and checked today. Seems to be doing alright.</p><p>I need to plant my potatoes soon. </p><p><a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/gardening" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>gardening</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/communityGarden" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>communityGarden</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/solarPunk" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>solarPunk</span></a></p>
