I found it! The weakest link! 😬

I also found a few other things:

That Yato 3 ton farm jack is proper strong (although the foot is slightly crooked now).

This post, unlikely all the others, was concreted in. So I was trying to pull the steel out of the concrete, which lead to chain failure.

DIY store chain is poorly welded.

Cheap crap stainless U-shackles from a random chandlery are sometimes surprisingly strong!

Today I am going to B&Q… we need some small raw plugs so I can fix door handles that seemingly don’t want to remain connected to the door!!

Had a couple of hairy moments of thinking we were stuck in a room! #diy

Hey, #diy community: I bought a used electric chainsaw that works great except that the chain keeps running for several seconds after I lift my finger off the trigger. Since I love my limbs, is there supposed to be a brake or clutch that I could replace? (It's branded Remington, which is a Chinese make with no real customer support that I can find.)

#Random lessons:

1. Ran out of thread. Needed to buy more. Substituted a different thread, hopefully will hold up fine.

2. Upholstery thread is much harder to work with than normal thread.

3. End of the spool of thread was near impossible to use, due to change in tension.

4. Should have gotten softer cushions. The firmer cushion was hard to cut even with a electric paring knife. Used the firmness recommended for the Eames, but this was actually softer.

5. Exact shape and size of material is not that important, as long as the material covers the face of the cushion. It's all pulled back and stapled anyway.

6. Vinyl is extremely, extremely, extremely stretchy... must adjust everything to accommodate for that stretch.

7. Bought too much material... Probably an extra yard. Now I need to figure out what to do with that material. Used an estimate for an Eames, vs. the Eames clone I have, and there is no backing on the clone (thus less material)

8. Hardest part of this was the arms, particularly getting the welting evenly sewn around the edges.

9. Snap button didn't work, covering the old buttons and new buttons with fabric by hand was the best way to do this, and looks and works fine.

I found a battery door .STL file for my Microvision, but it didn't fit and the clasp snapped off immediately. I was gonna trim it and attach it with magnets to pop it on and off, but using calipers a coworker got the right size and redid the print for me!
Sadly he didn't keep his fixed .STL file but with this and the new screen I installed already, this Microvision's officially restored!

Done. That's the underside, now covered with some "Bitumen" underbody spray that will also protect against small impacts.

This was a leftover can which went on fine and a new can which went on a bit blotchy. Guess you really need to shake it for five minutes. Oh well, blotchy protects all the better! :)

The inside got just normal matt black paint. That looked very nice but somehow the phone forgot to take a picture when I pressed the button 🤷

"Phileas Fogg schaffen es auch wieder mit ihrem zweiten Album klassische Elemente der jungen The Cure und Bands wie No More gekonnt mit modernen Einflüssen von beispielsweise Kettcar, Element Of Crime oder Betterov miteinander zu verbinden. Eine wirklich großartige Nummer ist Hafen, die uns glücklicherweise zeigt, dass Musik von 2025 nicht in Schema X für Streamingdienst Y passen muss, um zu gefallen."

Finished filling a planter bed that I built from wood scrap I had lying around. Yay!

I seeded it with papaya, pepper, pigeon pea, taro, ice cream bean, and pumpkin. Mostly seeds I had from kitchen scraps that needed to get used up - papayas that I ate, pepper I ate, taro I ate.

It's filled with a mix of many things, including lovely red soil from a friend's farm, black cinder, mulch, and potting mixes I got on clearance.

Soil is the main limiting factor at my place, since it's basically a forest on lava rock.

This area has a small down slope on one side, so without roots, the soil will eventually leak out. This is one reason why I included ice cream bean and pigeon pea - to try and anchor the soil and put nitrogen in.

Either way, I'll definitely have to top it up with mulch periodically, especially as the soil settles and washes out with rain.

Has anyone installed #LVP in a basement or over a concrete slab anywhere? Wondering about experiences with vapor barriers and the possibility of mold from water wicking up.

Reading many differing opinions on this, from floating to glued, to... Anyway, experiences shared would be appreciated. Thanks.

These three are glad to be back home after a month in the regional museum.

Horst grumbled about running out of film for his camera on the first day there. Then he vanished somewhere with Scarlett O'Beara for a couple hours. That's how new plushies happen.

Quentin didn't say much at all. Apparently he was confused with the easter bunny a lot and needs to meditate on that.

Albaert slept through the whole thing.
