Couldn't sleep last night, so I stayed up watching this Majority Report interview about the Adams situation and the Dem's wholly inadequate response to Trump's fascist agenda and Elon Musk trying to implode the government. I don't want to imply I agree with everything these three say in this segment, but the Dem Socs are clearly frustrated with Democratic Party passivity and inaction in the face of a fascist/tech billionaire takeover. They want the Dems to replace Schumer and Jefferies with leaders prepared to fight, establish a shadow cabinet to expose everything the Trump admin is doing and provide Americans with some of the information the regime is hiding by cutting funding to the departments who're supposed to be informing us, and use every lever of power at their disposal to slow down the Trump agenda and its resulting carnage. They strongly disagree with the Dems current strategy of doing essentially nothing while waiting for courts (stacked full of fascist judges) to save the day and stop Trump's fascist agenda - for obvious reasons; you might lose in court, you don't mobilize resistance by telling people to wait for court rulings down the line, and you're not building popular support to throw the fascists out - assuming that's even possible given that Trump is now fucking with direct control of the FEC.

I mean I get that capitalist realism allows establishment liberals to dismiss the critiques of online anarchist rageposters like myself, but these are people who vote Democrat where eligible (I believe Heer is Canadian), actively encourage *other* people to vote Democrat, and genuinely want Democrats to win elections. Whether Third Way minions like it or not, these folks ARE representative of the base and I've seen plenty of bog standard liberal supporters of the party saying more or less the same things. You know my position already; the Democratic Party is at best worthless in a fight against fascism, and indeed more likely to actively collaborate with fascists in a doomed effort to convince white suburban voters they can do Trumpism better than Trump. But setting that aside, I think it's EXTREMELY telling that even veteran political observers who operate firmly in the realm of electoral politics and support electing Dem Party candidates, are accusing the party of doing nothing in the face of a fascist takeover and demanding far more aggressive action by Democrats to actually you know, do their jobs as an opposition party that is supposedly "resisting" all this (often outright criminal) nightmare nazi bullshit.

I guess Eric Adams never watched "Brooklyn 99"...

"In the fall of 2022, the New York Police Department began posting videos online to promote one of its latest initiatives: the Community Response Team, an elite unit formed under the city’s new mayor, Eric Adams.

Punctuated by dramatic music and quick cuts, the first video, dubbed “True Blue NYPD Finest,” looked like the TV show “Cops.” Officers run and shout as they chase people joyriding on motorbikes and ATVs.

One points a Taser at a motorcyclist and his passenger. Others tackle a rider, pinning him to the ground. Still others chase a motorbike onto the sidewalk, endangering nearby pedestrians.

Within the NYPD, department officials were disturbed by what they saw. “I threw red flags,” said Matthew Pontillo, a former chief who noted what he called “constitutional concerns” in the footage. But Pontillo and two former department executives say that when they raised the videos and the officers’ conduct with one of the unit’s leaders, he pushed back and complained to an unlikely party: the mayor himself.

If Adams was troubled by the unit’s actions, he hasn’t shown it. Instead, for more than two years, the mayor has repeatedly championed the CRT and his allies who run it, even as NYPD officials have warned its policing has been too aggressive."

“Normally, courts are aided in their decision-making through our system of adversarial testing," Judge Ho wrote, “which can be particularly helpful in cases presenting unusual fact patterns or in case of great public importance.”

He said that because the #DOJ & the mayor both want the charges dropped, “there has been no adversarial testing of the government’s position.”

The judge, Dale E. Ho of Federal District Court in Manhattan, also called for additional briefs from the parties & said he would hold an oral argument on March 14 if he felt it necessary.

Judge Ho’s decision, explained in a 5-pg ruling, will prolong a tumultuous episode that has led to political & legal upheavals, with federal prosecutors in NY & Washington resigning & several of #EricAdams’s campaign opponents calling for him to step down.
