#Bees didn't make it through the second #PolarVortex in late January. Did an inspection today. Can't figure why they never moved up into upper deep super full of capped #honey 🍯& so they froze. Looked like a lot died in the first #PolarVortex & the remainder during the second. I pulled 8 frames full of capped honey (both sides) & brought them in. I'm going to have to extract honey soon. Left the other mostly empty frames out there in a deep box. I will have to put lure out soon. #beekeeping

Okay...so...a little while ago, I had a...*semi*... #BrilliantIdea, the likes of which I will only reveal 2 *you* if you promise never 2 tell *Husband* the true state of things.

We have one of those plastic #Honey jars shaped like a bear & it still had some solidified honey at the bottom. It doesn't mean it's *bad*; it just needs 2 be melted before it can be used. I have a brand new jar in the cabinet too, but I *thought* I was being frugal by attempting 2 melt the stuff in the old jar (1)

THREE DOTS AND A DASH

½ oz lime juice
½ oz orange juice
½ oz honey syrup
¼ oz falernum
¼ oz allspice dram
1½ oz Rhum Agricole Vieux ❽
½ oz Blended Aged Rum ❸
1 dash Angostura bitters

Garnish: three maraschino cherries, pineapple chunk
Method: Add all the ingredients to a drink mixer tin. Fill with 12 oz crushed ice and 4-6 agitator cubes. Flash blend and open pour with a gated finish into a footed pilsner glass. If you don't have a drink blender (I don't) then shaking obviously does the trick.

For the garnish use one spear for three maraschino cherries and the pineapple chunk. Place horizontally on the rim of the glass. It represents V for victory in Morse code •••—

This drink is a certified tiki classic from Don the Beachcomber during WWII, later decoded by Jeff Beachbum Berry, and republished in the Smuggler's Cove book, page 43.

If there's a topic I want to see talked about more in the news (like the #Paypal / #Honey scam), I search keywords on Google frequently and click on every article I can find mentioning it.

I guess I'm hoping that if a lot of us do that, sites will get the idea that posting articles about a given topic will bring them lots of traffic.

I used to work in affiliate marketing and I see nothing surprising about the #Honey lawsuit.

But I do wonder if the Vivaldi browser is still hijacking affiliate links like it when I used it did back in 2016.

(I used to work on a browser extension that weirdly didn't work in Vivaldi until I found out about this and stopped using it.)

The absolute milquetoast responses of #PayPal about #Honey are so fucking damning.

They don't defend what they are doing or explain why what they do is not bad. They just say that it's technically legal and is industry-standard. Love it when companies basically straight-up admit that most people would consider their business practices indefensible & immoral.

I watched a video or two on the whole Honey scam thing. Somehow, I am not at all surprised that they're part of PayPal's empire. I want nothing to do with *anything* PayPal does.

The shady nature of any scheme dreamed up by for-profit money-handling companies that produce nothing but profits for their owners seems ubiquitous. It's one of the reasons that I don't like financial services companies of any stripe. They do nothing but move money and skim off of every transaction.
