InarticulateQuilter<a href="https://mastodon.art/tags/InarticulateBat" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#InarticulateBat</a> is on the longarm 😅 It’s actually been on a few days; if you look closely, there’s still some chalk marks showing from all the different quilting options I’ve been trying out. After all the work I put into making this design using clamshell blocks there was no way I was going to do an E2E pantograph — I want those bat clams to POP! Even if it does take 3x longer than normal to finish 😬<a href="https://mastodon.art/tags/Quilting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Quilting</a>

InarticulateQuilterThe Decolocation quilt top is finished! Precisely measured those borders to help with all the clamshell block stretch so it took a bit longer than expected But…Got the last border on with 15 mins to spare before my LQS closed, so I scheduled a spa day for my Janome tomorrow - might have it back, cleaned and all prettied up, before the weekend 🤞🏻<a href="https://mastodon.art/tags/Quilting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Quilting</a> <a href="https://mastodon.art/tags/InarticulateBat" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#InarticulateBat</a>

InarticulateQuilterBecause the appliqué curves are so difficult to stitch, I’m only getting 1-2 rows done a day, but <a href="https://mastodon.art/tags/InarticulateBat" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#InarticulateBat</a> is still coming along I’ve decided to portmanteau the name of this quilt and call it Decolocation (Art Deco + echolocation) <a href="https://mastodon.art/tags/Quilting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Quilting</a> <a href="https://mastodon.art/tags/WIP" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#WIP</a>

InarticulateQuilter2 rows downPretty sure I’ve figured out why I never saw anyone do a design like this before — turns out, piecing curves with satin stitch appliqués on them is not easy! There is much less give on the bat edges of the clams than on the half circle edges of the clam.
