They have made their opposition known through dozens of public statements and more than 100 submissions to the regulator, the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission.</p><p>"At the same time, the federal government positions nuclear energy as a strategic asset to Canada now and into the future. The government recently launched a policy to get nuclear projects approved more quickly, with fewer regulations. Indigenous opposition to nuclear waste is rooted in values that respect the Earth and the need to keep life safe for generations into the future.
