More recently, in LA, we saw LAPD fatally shoot Linda Becerra Moran, a trans sex worker from about 10 feet away for taking a few steps toward officers with a knife.
She was never an imminent threat to them.
Moran initially called the police reporting that she had been kidnapped and sex trafficked.

The Great Migration wasn't just about factory jobs. Many Black entrepreneurs moved North seeking business opportunities denied to them in the Jim Crow South, as a historian of Black business explains: https://theconversation.com/the-story-of-the-great-migration-often-overlooks-black-businesses-that-built-detroit-249006

This dude can punch Nazis, provide first aid at protests, and teach others those skills. He's unhoused and living out of a broken car (though hopefully it's been fixed since his February update). His gofundme stalled out at 50%, or really 25% of his 20k debt. Please boost!

Today in Labor History March 5 1968: The first Chicano student walkout in East Lost Angeles occurred on this date. The Walkouts, or Chicano Blowouts, occurred throughout 1968 in protest of unequal conditions in Los Angeles Unified School District high schools. Chicanos were often in classes of 40 students. Teachers often treated them with contempt. Drop-out rates were high. At Garfield High School, 58% of Chicano students dropped out each year. Thousands of students participated in the Blowouts. On March 4, 1968, J. Edgar Hoover sent out a memo to law enforcement, nationwide, warning them to be extra vigilant against “nationalist” movements in “minority” communities. Harry Gamboa Jr., one of the organizers of the first walkout, was placed on the list of 100 Most Dangerous & Violent Subversives, by the US Senate Committee on the Judiciary, along with Angela Davis & Eldridge Cleaver.
A german tourist has been held by ICE for over a month for the crime of legally crossing the boarder with tattoo equipment.
ICE agents decided to detain Jessica Brösche even tho her visa was perfectly valid and she crossed the boarder legally simply because they fear she -might- do paid work using her tattoo gear.
ICE also had Jessica placed in inhumane solitary confinement evidently just for fun. Outrageous.

The prompt is Elevate
Morgan Page, “Elevate” 2008
#MorganPage is a #DJ and producer who’s done remixes for other artists as well as creating and releasing #ElectronicMusic of his own…you know the type.
This album contains both Page’s own tracks featuring guest vocalists, and an assortment of his remixes. There’s a fair amount of #EDM stuff that doesn’t really grab me, but also some less head-pummelling gems.
My favorite is his #remix of “Sleepwalking Through the Mekong” by #LA-based #Cambodian-#surf--#psychedelic band #DengueFever (quite the niche!), whose original version became the centerpiece for soundtrack of the film of the same name, which attempts to connect the dots of their cross-cultural sound. Wait what?
BUT back to the album “Elevate” - please enjoy this sublime remix.
