#CrossChannelRail⁩ : final leg of Day 2, ⁨#Lille⁩ - ⁨#London⁩ - ⁨#York⁩ - ⁨#Harrogate

So #LNER made sure I had time for a real ☕espresso (and lovely #baklava @Lebanese place) at #YorkStation by organising a 20min signalling problem in #Doncaster. No worries, this us #England and not #France: there are departures to Harrogate every 30min throughout the day.

Thanks to #eurostar delay, no waiting in #KingsCross. Could check platform from #nationalRail live board, had QR code ready, the only thing was to jump above Mr FirstOut who had built a wall of suitcases at carriage door - then remember, twice to the right in #StPancras.

#LNER #London #Edinburgh :
💺 have reservation at front of train, I stopped midway.

⏲️ 20 min delay "due to operational issues" in #Rotterdam

I have a 30-min connection between #StPancras and #KingsCross, could still work… Staff announced delay and went thru carriage, I could get a Railteam delay certificate (not sure it's valid for my #LNER train, but worked last time)

Ooops, when I hoped that the Govt's deal with ASLEF over pay would start to end the pain for rail passengers, looks like I spoke (typed) prematurely.... ASLEF drivers on LNER are about to (re) start strike action(s) over successive weekends in a long running (but separate) dispute.

Apologies, I thought there was light at the end of the tunnel, but that just turned out to be another train coming towards LNER passengers (but not one they can board, of course).

Contacted by an independent company doing a survey on behalf of #LNER, to find out how my complaint (on 06/11/23) was handled by LNER.

Overall satisfaction: extremely dissatisfied.

Please state reason for that rating: "I haven't had a response yet".
🙄

#LNER have decided to give me the #deutschebahn experience, and we are now running 14 minutes late. At least you get a meal included with First Class[*] fares here. And beer, but not as good as in Germany.

[* It’s a long journey, and I got an Advance ticket so it only cost one kidney]

Excellent self-advocacy from Doug Paulley here: youtube.com/watch?v=OtSqZlMYHC

I’m sure there are very good, safety-based reasons for it being difficult to move a train a short distance along a platform before reopening the doors

But it’s clearly not impossible, and I can’t imagine it would have taken twenty minutes if everyone involved had realised what needed to be done

Had to temporarily reactivate my birdsite account, to contact #LNER because of the East Coast Mainline problems yesterday. It's a very shouty, angry, place now (tw*tter, not LNER).

Shame that all the infrastructure social media accounts (rail, road, ferries, local authorities, etc.) are still only on there.
