The drum was stolen by missionaries in 1723. In 1732 <a href="https://samenet.social/tags/Linnaeus" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Linnaeus</span></a> described a <a href="https://samenet.social/tags/Norwegian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Norwegian</span></a> method to steal drums from Sámi:</p><p>""...he asks the Lapp [outdated: Sámi] to give up the drum, but the Lapp refuses (...) he then grabs his arm, slips up his sleeve, and before the Lapp can see opens up his vein. The Lapp begins to beg for his life and says he'll give up the drum.
