Screen Rant · Amid Scandal, Marvel and Comic Publishers Are Now Addressing the Neil Gaiman AllegationsBy Dashiel Reaves

Mikä on paras Discworld-romaani? #kirjamastodon #terrypratchett #neilgaiman

Neil Gaiman is a harrowing reminder that writing does NOT heal your trauma. Writing for an audience is not "therapeutic."

Journaling can be a part of your healing toolbox, and some professional projects can be cathartic, but powerful writing says nothing about whether or how you are handling your own trauma.

Artists are not mystically superior highly-evolved beings. Some are compartmentalizing, or hiding in their work.

This is from an article by arch-transphobe Graham Linehan, written about Neil Gaiman (alluding that he knew Gaiman was a sexual predator simply because he was pro-trans)....

Irrespective of his reprehensibly bigoted views, the overall conclusion I draw is that Linehan is a thoroughly unlikable & nasty piece of work.... 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

Whatever · Taking LeaveIf you want to know when I pretty much drew a line though my friendship with Neil Gaiman, it was when Neil acknowledged that he made moves on his early-20s nanny on her first day of employment. Thi…

It seems like every time we find out that some creator or another is actually a horrible human being, there’s a lot of “they were never any good to begin with” or “I never liked their works anyway” discourse. And even though I understand the urge to say something like that, I don’t think it’s productive or helpful for the people who are essentially in mourning for stories or worlds that have been poisoned by their creators’ conduct. I think those kinds of statements are mostly to prop up the people who are making them at the expense of fans who have been really let down.

Anyway, all that is just to say that even though I personally was never really a #neilgaiman girlie, I sincerely believe that he was, and is, a talented writer, and I’m sorry if you’re now looking at your collection of his books with the same kind of dismay with which I was looking at my Harry Potter books after JK Rowling turned out to be the David Duke of transphobes. Even if it isn’t exactly the same, I know how it feels and it sucks.
