Ah yes, fetwgrkifg, my favorite way to transfer data between computers.

The #openbsd 7.7 release page https://www.openbsd.org/77.html is filling out nicely (yes, the release is SOON now), you can prepare for the event by reading "You Have Installed OpenBSD. Now For The Daily Tasks." https://nxdomain.no/~peter/openbsd_installed_now_for_the_daily_tasks.html, and watching for updates over on the OpenBSD Journal https://undeadly.org
This pile of #networking gear from cisco, juniper and NEC has been at this HARD OFF for nearly a year now. 56k, ISDN and PoE all in one device, what #sysadmin could resist?!?
Working on a meshcore testbed.
I want to have several radios on the roof so I can develop in production
Fixed mandatory DNS filtering and one of these lists is reaaaally fucking with aliucord/discord
I'm also suspecting some slowdown but haven't looked at numbers bar a desktop speed test which checked out about normal.
Man BGP just does NOT want to be done dynamically.
It makes sense it's a more foundational protocol, gets less attention, needs to be done less often... I just have the itch to automate and wire everything up
Let's give PRO/VENIX a barely adequate, pre-C89 TCP/IP stack (featuring Slirp-CK) https://lobste.rs/s/khmxui #c #networking #retrocomputing

Graphed and measured: running TCP input in parallel https://www.undeadly.org/cgi?action=article;sid=20250418114827 #openbsd #tcp #networking #parallel #fasterpackets #freesoftware #unixlike #libresoftware
I've been wanting some solid network observability since I seem to have latent oddities that turn into landmines when I go to do complex stuff. Have found a couple of interesting projects thanks to Packet Tracer's recent post.

I love the idea of agentless and auto-discovery, though realistically most of what I'm looking for will be on a handful of machines I control.
Wonder if any are available as OPNsense plugins...

Thanks @index for including this in the newsletter! Always nice to see something positive.
With this spring's (or autumn's) #OpenBSD release creeping ever closer (see https://www.openbsd.org/77.html filling out in near real time), you can prepare for the event by by reading "You Have Installed OpenBSD. Now For The Daily Tasks." https://nxdomain.no/~peter/openbsd_installed_now_for_the_daily_tasks.html.
Enjoy #OpenBSD!
Is it just me, or do *most* IT certification lose their usefulness mid career and later. That is, your work experience IS your proof credibility, the certs add little to no value do to being overshadowed by your actual accomplishments. In general, does the data support this hypothesis?
Now starting at ICT.OPEN: a panel discussion on the Future of Education in the Era of Generative AI. As a freshly-minted assistant professor with increasingly many teaching responsibilities, I am keen!

I really enjoyed @Felienne's narrative about narratives about Computer Science yesterday. She applied some of the ideas presented in the Glaciers, Gender and Science paper (https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/abs/10.1177/0309132515623368) to her experiences in the Computer Science / Programming Languages communities. She's also starting a reading club to brainstorm the meaning (and the name?) of the field of "Computer Science".

Yesterday at ICT.OPEN I also attended a panel discussion on "Bridging the Gap between Research and Industry through Application-Oriented AI Innovations"
It was mostly academics in the room, but I had an interesting chat with Dr. Floor Campfens and my colleague Dr. Anna Lukina afterwards, where we talked about the research done at RIWO, and of course our research at TU Delft.

Yesterday, on the first day of ICT.OPEN 2025, the program kicked off with a keynote presentation by Prof.Dr.Ir. Alexandru Iosup about "massivizing" our algorithms.
