The <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/Schans?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Schans</a> of <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/Lauwershoek?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Lauwershoek</a> is a schans (literally translated: ramp or skijump) that is part of the <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/Enceinte?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Enceinte</a> of <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/Antwerp?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Antwerp</a>, a ring of fortifications around the city.<br> <br> Situated about 10km from the river <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/Scheldt?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Scheldt</a>, the Schans of Lauwershoek and <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/Landmolen?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Landmolen</a> were built as an extra protection for the forts of Steendorp and Haasdonk.
