Paul KnightlyWeather has been one of my life-long interests and pairs well with photography. Every spring and summer I try to take a few days to chase storms near where I live and occasionally venture a few hours further to get onto the Great Plains of the U.S. The views rarely disappoint and I'm often treated to scenes like this. I caught this display of mammatus clouds in western Kansas while following a large complex of storms driving home from a conference in Denver. I've adopted a saying over the years to always be somewhere for sunset, particularly when I'm chasing. That brief moment of time before and immediately after sunset (or before sunrise) creates the most spectacular lighting conditions as rays of light move through the various layers of the atmosphere. ABY BUT IN ALLCAPS[🌧️ advice welcomed, please 🌧️] So, the back of the yard is flooded. My house is totally dry and fine. It's about 5 to 6 inches deep in some spots. I'm going to have to go out and get a better look tomorrow. I think I'll have to do something (?fuck knows what) about the standing water because of the risk of mosquitoes breeding in it.(also, all this water fell in about 2 hours)(also also, all the doors and windows are closed at the moment. I have the fan and the air conditioner on..
