Alarming tidbit buried in the contract for repairs to the #StClairWest station streetcar track loop. Does the #TTC really believe the lifespan of streetcar tracks is only 15 years? That seems very short, especially for track that is indoors, sheltered from the winter.

Been a fan of PCC streetcars since I was a kid. Props the Market Street Railway for keeping them running along the #FMarket.

My sketch in pencil, ink, gel pen, watercolor and gouache.

A vintage PCC streetcar in traditional green-and-white Muni colors runs from left to right along the F Market line in San Francisco, against a white background.

Hiroshima City is a tram museum. A variety of trams – old and new, domestic and imported - are running on the streets. All tramways except for the Miyajima line are street running, so, trams share the streets with regular cars 😊

Old trams from 40’s and 50’s are commonly seen, while new trams have continuously been introduced 😉

I should have taken more photos 🤔

Well, I hope I have a chance to visit Hiroshima again 😊

Hiroshima Electric Railway, Tram 3702

A tram at Miyajima Station (terminal). This one (3702) was among the newest models when I lived in Hiroshima as a high school student. But now, this is one of the oldest models, and the newest tram looks like a future car. But I am glad that I saw this tram during our visit.

For a period of time in the early 1900s, it was possible to make a trip solely using EVs all the way from New York to Wisconsin.
The #electric #interurban was very similar to electric #streetcar systems, except they traveled primarily between cities instead within them. Although sometimes regarded as a fad, interurbans existed for a few decades and spread across the continent.
