Danke @DS_Stiftung

This #SocialSecurity updated #TOS sounds like cover for #DOGE "accidents". Question 4 @SocialSecurityWorks @alaw202 @BarbMcQuade #natsec & #infosec folks, is this binding?
If I don't check the box, can they withhold my SS check?

In the article comments some people questioned who this is protecting now & IN THE FUTURE with the use of the DATA that is taken.

IS this preparing for when data gets in to #Musk's AI #Grok?

RE: #Firefox / #Mozilla #TOS / #AI drama

I see this a lot: "Don't you know you're the last semi-open, semi-free, mostly non-extractive, non-enshittified browser we have left? How could you do this?!"

I suspect the reality from Mozilla's (CEO's) point of view is: "Don't you know we're the last semi-open, semi-free, mostly non-extractive, non-enshittified browser you have left? That's why we're doing this."

I've been a Firefox user since the beginning. Before that, I was a Netscape Navigator user, starting with version 3. So it's been a while.

That's about to end.

With the Terms of Service changes from Mozilla whatever trust they had from me is gone. I will no longer be advocating for others to use Firefox and I'm going to stop using it.

If Firefox can detach itself from the Mozilla Foundation then I'll reconsider. Or if Mozilla decides to roll back their terms of service and have the leadership resign, I'll reconsider. But I seriously doubt that will happen.

And it's worse than the above: I'm going to start telling people to stay the hell away from Mozilla. I now consider it a toxic brand.

I hope the people at Mozilla get the message. You barely have any browser market share and those like me who have stuck with you for multiple decades are jumping ship.

@mozillaofficial

Question: given I don't use Google Search, I don't use any AI feature in anything I don't believe that Mozilla has any implicit licence for my input.

Mozilla has no implicit licence or otherwise when entering data into any 3rd party's application using a browser in a complete parallel to an Editor application on the Desktop not needing a licence to edit a user's files.

So I guess I need a robust fork, Brave does not attract me for other reasons. What is a reasonable alternative?

So far, I have not seen an actual lawyer give an analysis of the newly-announced #Firefox #TOS thing and, to be frank, the hottakes that I have seen boosted by all yall here have not met my standard for "this person is doing a careful assessment".

Instead, there is a whole lot of "this undoubtedly verifies what I always secretly expected" or "everything in these sorts of statements in a trojan horse intended to cause harm."

So, please: If/when you do see some analysis by a lawyer, boost that.

My own head canon for why a lot of the tech in Star Trek TOS looks primitive by today's standards (eg the consoles in the bridge) is that tech in the 2260s is going through a strong minimalist phase as a reaction to the excesses of prior centuries. They've realized you don't need tons of information shoved into your eyeballs every waking moment. And they've rekindled an appreciation for tactile controls. #startrek #tos #headcanon #startrektos

New #disneyplus, #Hulu, and #espnplus #TOS allows for #advertisements even on ad-free paid plans! The fuck!? What's even the point then? Enshittification marches ever onward.
