#Palestinian paramedics shot by #Israeli forces had hands tied, eyewitnesses say

Senior doctor who saw bodies says men appeared to have been ‘executed’, adding to evidence of potential war crime

"Dr Ahmed al-Farra, a senior doctor at the Nasser medical complex in Khan Younis, witnessed the arrival of some of the remains.

“I was able to see three bodies when they were transferred to the Nasser hospital. They had bullets in their chest and head. They were executed. They had their hands tied,’’ Farra said. “They tied them so they were unable to move and then they killed them.”"

When the physicists need burner phones, that’s when you know America’s changed

>>At international academic conferences recently, one sees an interesting trend. Some American participants are travelling with “burner” phones or have minimalist laptops running browsers and not much else. In other words, they are equipped with the same kind of kit that security-conscious people used to bring 15 years ago when travelling to China.<<

@TheCybermatron
For different reasons I use a self hosted VPN located outside UK.

#TheGuardian recently began nagging me to go to the European edition but so far that's all. Presumably due to this change.

I use Brave browser so don't see ads.

Using a self hosted or #Mullvad #VPN is important these days, particularly in UK which is a surveillance state.

BBC #iPlayer also loves to abuse #privacy, recently stopped letting me use it to see what's on (not just blocking from watching content).

The US assault on free speech is not going to end with #MahmoudKhalil

"It should be clear by now that America is not exceptional; the constitution is not a magical document that will protect our freedoms simply by existing. We are sliding towards an authoritarian future at alarming speed and #Khalil’s detention is an important reminder that we can’t fight for our rights in isolation. All of our freedoms are intertwined."

@fj British journalist Carole Cadwalladr had a very similar take in #TheGuardian not long ago:

"Do not kiss the ring. Do not bend to power. Power will come to you, anyway. Don’t make it easy. Not everyone can stand and fight. But nobody needs to bend the knee until there’s an actual memo to that effect. WAIT FOR THE MEMO."
