two days ago a #s3 bucket containing a SQL dump with data from #volkswagen #financial #services was deleted. I reported the bucket on the 9th of March, so it took them close to three weeks to fix it.
My mail with the responsible disclosure to #vw was never answered or acknowledged.
Sir Rod Stewart is right - I was in South #Essex myself a week ago, having turned off the #A12 on a fruitless search for a loo (I later found one at #Chelmsford), and regularly found myself having to drive almost in the crown of the road to avoid #potholes , and this is in a modest #VW #Polo (stock springs, not lowered or anything like that) - not a #Ferrari (I dread to think how much that would cost if you scraped it, even a millionaire may baulk at the garage bill)

The touch display of my #VW's radio/navigation system stopped working. The authorized workshop told me it would cost approximately €1000 because they would need to replace the whole unit. However, I found the digitizer on #AliExpress for €9.53, including shipping, and the repair took me about half an hour. So, in a way, I just saved €990.47. 
@n1xnx Yeah, @steggy had her heart set on an electric hippy bus from Volkswagon and then we got a look at the inside. We just can't.

I recently encountered several car enthusiasts who dismiss the criticism of #Tesla as a #Fascist car company by saying, “wait till you learn about VW”, or “do you know who Porsche was?”
First of all, two wrongs don’t make a right. The hypothetical existence of other Fascist companies does not excuse the existence of another.
Second, Volkswagen Auto Group acknowledges their past, condemns it, and work to repair their evil (https://www.volkswagen-group.com/de/historie-15914). While Ford the car company doesn’t directly address Henry Ford’s antisemitism on their website, the head of the Ford Foundation (which owns non-voting shares of FMC) has explicitly condemned it (https://www.fordfoundation.org/news-and-stories/stories/rejecting-the-rising-tide-of-antisemitism/).
Their acknowledgement of past evil, and their explicit opposition to it, is an important distinction between these Hitler-era companies and Tesla today. Elon’s current embrace of #Fascism should have caused Tesla to reject and fire him on the spot, but they have not. That is materially different.
