Der fehlende Schutz für gefährdete Menschen, die unzureichende Bereitstellung von <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Schutzausr%C3%BCstung" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Schutzausrüstung</span></a> und die erzwungene Arbeit unter gefährlichen Bedingungen setzten viele Menschen unnötig dem <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Virus" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Virus</span></a> aus. Wenn die <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Zeitungen" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Zeitungen</span></a> überhaupt über Long COVID berichten, dann berichten sie jetzt, dass es den <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Patienten" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Patienten</span></a> größtenteils besser geht (was nicht der Fall ist) und dass die aktuellen Stämme nicht so gefährlich sind. Aktuelle <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Auffrischungsimpfungen" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Auffrischungsimpfungen</span></a> bieten einen gewissen Schutz (es ist also ein Skandal, dass die Regierung der Bevölkerung keine kostenlosen Auffrischungsimpfungen zur Verfügung stellt), und die besonders virulenten frühen Stämme führen eher zu Long Covid als die späteren Varianten. Allerdings ist niemand immun und jede COVID-Infektion birgt nach wie vor ein Risiko. Menschen mit geschwächtem <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Immunsystem" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Immunsystem</span></a> sind besonders gefährdet, dass sich ihr Zustand durch eine erneute <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Infektion" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Infektion</span></a> verschlechtert, was es für die Betroffenen sehr schwierig macht, sich an die aktuellen Annahme „COVID ist vorbei“ zu halten.

Menschen, die an Long COVID leiden, und andere Menschen, die besonders anfällig für eine COVID-Infektion sind, müssen derzeit mit einer Situation zurechtkommen, in der es in Gebäuden keine <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Luftreiniger" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Luftreiniger</span></a> gibt, Menschen selbst in <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Krankenh%C3%A4usern" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Krankenhäusern</span></a> nirgendwo <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Masken" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Masken</span></a> tragen, <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Arbeitgeber" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Arbeitgeber</span></a> die Menschen auffordern, mit COVID zur <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Arbeit" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Arbeit</span></a> zu kommen, und im Grunde genommen werden gefährdete Menschen abgeschrieben und aufgefordert, mit dem Risiko selbst fertig zu werden.

Einige Menschen, die Masken tragen, werden in Bussen beschimpft. Andere haben berichtet, dass sie als schwierige Patienten abgestempelt werden, weil sie das Personal bei Krankenhausbesuchen gebeten haben, Masken zu tragen. <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/%C3%84rzte" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Ärzte</span></a> neigen zu sehr dazu, Long COVID als „nur eine psychische Erkrankung“ abzutun.
