Just a random product recommendation for wine fans: splurge on The Durand. The device has a stupid name and is expensive ($145), but it is capable of extracting corks that are almost disintegrated. You first use the spiral corker, then slide in the two-pronged puller. Super handy if you encounter old bottles of wine. I take it with me to BYOB restaurants so that I don't have to watch in horror as waiter corks the bottle with a standard device. #wine #cork #alcohol

RYE-PA

½ oz lemon juice
½ oz orgeat
1½ oz rye whiskey
2 dashes Angostura bitters
3 oz New England IPA

Glassware: Double old-fashioned
Method: Combine lemon, orgeat, rye, and bitters in a shaker with ice and shake. Add the beer directly to the serving glass, then open pour the shaker into the glass. Garnish with mint.

An original by servedbysoberon on IG, but I've modified it to be more beer-forward by downplaying the sweet/sour a bit. The beer is called Frida, a #NEIPA by local brewer Braukollektiv in #Freiburg. Great summer smasher!

MICHELADA

1½ oz lime juice
2 dashes Maggi liquid seasoning
4 dashes Worcestershire sauce
2 dashes Tabasco sauce
12 oz Mexican lager beer

Garnish: salted rim, lime wheel
Method: First, salt the rim of the glass by rubbing it with a cut-open lime and rolling it in a shallow bowl filled with Tahín or salt. Now build the drink in glass, adding ingredients in the order listed. Once the beer is in, garnish with a lime wheel and add a few small ice cubes then serve.

Maggi seasoning is really easy to find in Germany, but if not by you then soy sauce is a decent substitute. Tabasco also up for substitution according to your prefs. What isn’t negotiable is drinking this in the sunshine!

One more mod if you’re feeling sassy is to serve with a side of danger, a neat shot alongside that someone can add as they wish. Tequila and Mezcal are excellent choices!

March's cocktail pie - Diesel (Snake) Bites

A Snake Bite contains equal parts cider and lager. To make it a Diesel you splash in some blackcurrant cordial.

For my bites, I’ve gone for a cider-and-lager pulled pork with a blackcurrant barbecue sauce, all wrapped up in pasty pastry.

Europe is going to impose a 50% #tariffs on Wine, Champagne and other forms of alcohol. Then #trump said a 200% in return as I am sure he is just panicking and attempting to be as inflammatory as possible.

I can see that move ACTUALLY getting #maga attention. Boise Idaho was half functional alcoholics and so is every other red state cuz they suck to live in.

High on optics, low in immediate impact. That is the effect of the recent move by India to reduce tariff on bourbon whisky imports from all countries, from 150% to 100%, after US President Donald Trump criticised India’s “unfair” tariffs on American goods, particularly in the alcohol sector. Indians lean towards whisky, along with beer, and the share of bourbon whisky — of which the US is a major producer — in the overall Indian alcohol pie is very small.

I had a follow up question from my previous one a while back, asking about moving to Fort Collins, Colorado.

I've set my mind that that's where I'm going. I have been seeing some YouTube videos from creators that say if you don't drink alcohol, you might not fit in and should consider not moving there. I guess it's because of the many microbreweries and such there.

Is this advice accurate? I sure hope not!
