fiona and marcWhile we 'lived' in the sacred valley, we went to visit Moray, an archaeological site nearby. <br>
In Inca times, Moray was an agricultural research center. The circular terraces built into the hillside created different microclimates, allowing the Incas to experiment with growing crops (how we understood it was mainly corn) and adapting the seeds every year to a higher terrace (colder climate) until the top. These seeds could then be used in the mountainous regions of the sacred valley.<br>
Walking through the site, the Incas' impressive engineering and design skills are visible. The precision of the stonework is incredible, and it is fascinating to get a glimpse into the agricultural innovations of the Inca Empire. <br>
