I took this in Avonport a few years ago. The flags shows recognition of the Mi'kmaq, whose history goes back much further than that of the Europeans. From top to bottom: Canada, Acadia, Nova Scotia, Mi'kmaq nation. I guess in order, it's newest down. :)

This is high tide. At low tide, this is a mud flat, popular among shorebirds, especially those fattening up for the long trip to South America from their summer nesting sites.

I was telling an interview subject about the tides in the Bay of Fundy, about which I have vivid memories. I remember sitting on a pebbly beach with my father, watching the waves come in, each one further along, until they were nearly lapping at my knockoff Keds. It was a good memory in so many ways, but there was a mournful quality. I hope that's retrospective from knowing it would be among the last good memories I had with him (he's still alive, just a fuckup). If it's not, I suspect I heard this great recording of a great song in the car before we got to the beach. Man, Gordon Lightfoot could really sell a downer. #BayOfFundy #GordonLightfoot youtu.be/vaE9vlrhX-k

Annapolis Valley and Harvest Moon Trail bike ride.

This was (probably) our last long trip (of the year) as the weather will be turning cold soon. (Why do I think that makes me sound like I think I'm a rock star?)
It was absolutely gorgeous with the unseasonal warmth and fall colours. It was my longest so far, at 56km, or 35 miles. We had a delicious plant based lunch in Wolfville, sitting on the patio outside the restaurant. A bit windy, but it wasn't cold.
After that we made our way down the Harvest Moon Trail to Grand Pré and Evangeline Beach where we sat and admired the Bay. On the road we were almost dive bombed by lots of screeching bald eagles. (They should have much louder cries for their size, I think.)

The ride was often into that headwind, but sometimes behind us, which was nice!

The video was taken in Lower Canard overlooking the Habitant River and the Minas Basin, part of the Bay of Fundy. We were not far from home. Photos of the map and part of the trail are in the first comment.
