Taffer :godot: 🇨🇦<p>Hey, nice, installer failed to install something after repartitioning, that's fun. Maybe it didn't like my custom partition scheme? 🤷 </p><p><a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/bazzite" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>bazzite</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/framework16" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>framework16</span></a></p>

Taffer :godot: 🇨🇦<p>One thing I'm mildly concerned about with Bazzite is having "all" apps as Flatpaks, specifically around interop with each other and the OS.</p><p>Generally these work fine. I've got a Flatpak Vivaldi on my Tumbleweed system and it doesn't integrate with the OS' fingerprint scanner to unlock 1Password, so I have to password unlock it frequently.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/flatpak" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>flatpak</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/bazzite" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>bazzite</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/1password" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>1password</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/vivaldi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>vivaldi</span></a></p>
Taffer :godot: 🇨🇦<p>Bazzite uses Homebrew for command-line apps? That seems extremely odd. Maybe this is normal on atomic Linux distros?</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/bazzite" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>bazzite</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>linux</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/homebrew" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>homebrew</span></a></p>
Taffer :godot: 🇨🇦<p>Almost ready to wipe my Tumbleweed laptop and start fresh again. Currently leaning towards Bazzite for more stability, easier/supported app installs, and official Framework support. Wondering about app freshness on Bazzite though.</p><p>I do need to look more into atomic distros vs rolling (EndeavourOS is also on the table), and how much RedHat controls the Fedora project.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/opensuse" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>opensuse</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/tumbleweed" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>tumbleweed</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/bazzite" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>bazzite</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/endeavouros" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>endeavouros</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/redhat" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>redhat</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/fedora" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>fedora</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/arch" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>arch</span></a></p>

Taffer :godot: 🇨🇦<p>I'm actually getting frustrated with running a rolling release; Tumbleweed has had a lot of problems over the last few weeks: graphical login screen crashing to console when I move the mouse, Wayland + KDE Plasma 6 hanging during login just before showing the desktop, CapsLock being locked on when I wake the laptop from sleep.</p><p>Bazzite's right there, and Fedora is officially supported on Framework. 🤔 </p><p><a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/opensuse" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>opensuse</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/tumbleweed" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>tumbleweed</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/bazzite" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>bazzite</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/fedora" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>fedora</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/framework" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>framework</span></a></p>

Cassidy James :eos: :gg: :fh:<p>Bazzite/Linux Steam people, have you seen this? It would appear something to do with Steam Input plus Flatpak means a DualShock 4 doesn’t work correctly in some games. Scott Williams 🐧<p>Hot take: The Snapdragon X PC's would have sold far better if they were pitched as the PC Apple Silicon counterpart instead of the all in on AI marketing. Better battery life with top performance and touting compatibility should have been a clear slam dunk. For strictly AI, there's not much of a compelling reason to buy it over a Ryzen. Microsoft entirely and completely failed to read the room.
