And surprise orchids! Super late and kinda high altitude bonnet orchid as well as my first midge (background removed in an attempt to get a better ID but I have zero idea lol)

Desperately needed outside time this weekend and honestly the mushrooms delivered
Walk into pit (basement), spot bit of black hose underfoot
*hose*?
Oh FUCK!
Leap skywards.
50cm black snake (red belly?), slithers under stored items. Probably thinking "oh fuck, *that* was close". Just like I was!
Heartrate slowly drops.
Over the years I've had redbellies, browns, broad headed, & a tiger snake in the pit, + a few non/mildly venomous snakes.
"I've had it with these motherfucking snakes in my motherfucking pit"
It'll go away...
As the sun rose it burnt off the fog and revealed the Three Sisters and gave a hint of Mt Solitary in the background.
After seeing this waterfall, it made the stairs down and back up seem worthwhile.
The first light at sunrise just shines on the top of the sandstone cliffs at one of my favourite parts of the Blue Mountains.

Hi Everyone!
As an #introduction, my name is Stewart and I’m a #nature #photographer.
I live in Sydney, #Australia, so while my most frequented spots are in the #Illawarra or #BlueMountains I also like to travel.
The type of #landscape photography I enjoy is pretty evenly split between the grand landscape and smaller scenes.
I’m looking forward to seeing how this goes!
32 seconds of #weird lorikeets. They sat outside on the window sill for a good 20 minutes, dancing and vibrating their beaks on the glass, sometimes licking the glass and nibbling at each other.
No doubt babies will be coming.
Don't have a good view to the south, but long exposure night shot on the phone camera reveals magenta aurora in the #bluemountains at 34°S
Fallen silky oak flowers with moss and lichen :) #mosstodon #florespondence #bloomscrolling #LichenSubscribe #BlueMountains
Lichen and moss on tree bark :) #mosstodon #LichenSubscribe #BlueMountains
Was at #ScenicWorld in the #BlueMountains and they have a fossil display... that includes a Tyrannosaurus tooth...
Can someone confirm the authenticity please

Yellow Monday #cicada in a mossy tree hollow, with lichen and epiphytes :) #mosstodon #BlueMountains
Moss in the crevices between strata of worn stone, looking like a drone shot of terraced rice paddies on a mountainside :) #mosstodon #BlueMountains
I'm James, I've only recently started using Mastodon. Mainly after #cohost shut down.
I love #music. I play guitar and sing, solo and in a band. I live in the #bluemountains in Australia.
I'm also a software dev who's pretty active in the #JS ecosystem. I love #postgres and #duckdb I used to be more active in #fp spaces but not so much now.
Completely as a hobby I'm interested in #gamedev / #gamedesign
I'm fairly #left leaning but I don't get too political online.
