B'Tselem בצלם : On 19 Jan. 2025, Israeli soldiers entered the Palestinian village of Sabastiya near Nablus & fired several shots in the air. Some teens gathered behind a wall & aimed toy lasers at them. When 14-year-old Ahmad Jazar peeked out with his toy, the soldiers shot and killed him. Then they left.
Since the war in Gaza began, the military has increased its deliberate “friction” with residents of the West Bank, including raids on communities with no clear operational goal.

B’Tselem documented 25 testimonies detailing this abuse, which included beatings, threats of rape, and psychological torture. Many of these attacks occurred publicly and were even filmed and shared by the perpetrators.

Shiri Davidovitch, a researcher at B'Tselem, argues that this violence is not only a product of the daily realities of occupation but is also fueled by a societal climate in #Israel shaped by the October 2024 war. The lack of critical media coverage of the conflict in #Gaza and the emphasis on a simplistic notion of “victory” has created a societal thirst for vengeance, dehumanizing Palestinians and normalizing violence against them. This dehumanization is evident in the casual brutality documented in #Hebron and the widespread sharing of violent imagery online.

Davidovitch concludes that as long as Israeli society continues to dehumanize Palestinians and prioritize a narrative of revenge, such abuses will continue.

Kürzlich kam das "Welcome to hell"-Dokument der israelischen Menschenrechtsorganisation #BTselem heraus, in dem systematisch Zeugenaussagen von 55 Palästinensern (30 aus der Westbank, 21 aus Gaza, 4 israelische Bürger - nur wenige von ihnen wurden jemals eines Verbrechens beschuldigt) bzgl der Situation ihrer Gefangenschaft in #Israel analysiert wurden sind.
