Brian Ambrozy<p>You know, I really miss Raptr: the service that allowed you to track, compare, and share game achievements and play stats cross-platform. I wish I had something like Letterboxd for games, something I could use to centrally catalog my vast cross-platform game collection, track my backlog, and organize my collection, and also use it to shit-talk achievement comparisons and completion stats with my son. </p><p><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raptr" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raptr</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p><a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/gaming" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>gaming</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/pcgaming" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>pcgaming</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/steam" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>steam</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/consolegaming" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>consolegaming</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/gamedev" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>gamedev</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/xbox" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>xbox</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/playstation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>playstation</span></a></p>
Mark Gardner<p><span class="h-card"><a href="https://atomicpoet.org/users/atomicpoet" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>atomicpoet</span></a></span> Also, it’s self-contradictory for a PC gamer to shut down on <a href="https://social.sdf.org/tags/ConsoleGaming" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ConsoleGaming</span></a>, an alternative that suits other gamers, when the entire point of <a href="https://social.sdf.org/tags/PCgaming" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PCgaming</span></a> is to cater to individual choice</p>
Mark Gardner<p><span class="h-card"><a href="https://atomicpoet.org/users/atomicpoet" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>atomicpoet</span></a></span> My point is that it’s okay for people to choose from multiple paths to the same ends (of enjoying <a href="https://social.sdf.org/tags/VideoGames" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>VideoGames</span></a>). And your initial statement that <a href="https://social.sdf.org/tags/ConsoleGaming" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ConsoleGaming</span></a> should not have so much “cultural capital” (<a href="https://atomicpoet.org/objects/3e8d5eb7-4971-40f9-8781-e88a0248e7da" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">atomicpoet.org/objects/3e8d5eb</span><span class="invisible">7-4971-40f9-8781-e88a0248e7da</span></a>) is just a fancy way of saying others’ choices you disagree with are wrong.</p><p>I’m really sorry that your <a href="https://social.sdf.org/tags/NintendoSwitch" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>NintendoSwitch</span></a> repair was so expensive. But it’s a vast leap generalizing that to a condemnation of all <a href="https://social.sdf.org/tags/consoles" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>consoles</span></a> for everyone.</p>
Mark Gardner<p><span class="h-card"><a href="https://atomicpoet.org/users/atomicpoet" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>atomicpoet</span></a></span> <a href="https://social.sdf.org/tags/Consoles" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Consoles</span></a> are also fairly self-contained appliances with a fixed cost designed for shared living spaces. A successful console platform can play compatible <a href="https://social.sdf.org/tags/games" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>games</span></a> for its entire life without upgrades and the tinkering that comes with a general-purpose platform. That’s a compelling value for many people.</p><p>And I say this as someone for whom tinkering *is* the <a href="https://social.sdf.org/tags/game" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>game</span></a> sometimes.</p><p><a href="https://social.sdf.org/tags/gaming" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>gaming</span></a> <a href="https://social.sdf.org/tags/VideoGames" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>VideoGames</span></a> <a href="https://social.sdf.org/tags/ConsoleGaming" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ConsoleGaming</span></a></p>
Dave Rahardja<p>I really enjoyed the <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/ManifoldGarden" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ManifoldGarden</span></a> game. There are only a handful of special rules in the game mechanic, but combined with the wonderfully architectural (and infinitely mirrored/repeating) level designs, it made for a beautiful and engaging playing environment. The soundtrack is wonderful as well.</p><p>It gives me the same vibes as <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/MonumentValley" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MonumentValley</span></a>: Stylized, almost monochromatic architecture, replete with visual paradoxes.</p><p>It was $20 on the PS5 store and I think it’s worth it.
