…Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, said #RFKJr’s finances showed “outrageous conflicts of interest that endanger #PublicHealth.”

“This disclosure shows that RFK Jr. made millions off of peddling dangerous #AntiVaccine #conspiracies,” she said in a statement. “Even worse, if he is confirmed, his finances will still be tied to the outcomes of anti-#vaccine lawsuits — even as he’d be tasked with regulating them as #health secretary.”

From Evidence to Extremism: How Our City Council Failed Us

We discuss the worrying trend of our local political leaders making public policy decisions based on bad science, conspiracy theories, and personal agendas. Actively ignoring the will of their constituents. Their most recent move in this vein was to vote to remove the fluoride from our municipal water supply here in Aberdeen. This will negatively impact public health in a place with already abysmal health stats. It will also primarily harm those who are already marginalized and vulnerable such as the poor in our City. This may seem like small potatoes, but this City Council has been actively harming residents of this City for years now, it is time to consider what can be done to counter this destructive institution.

Guardian: Far-right militia targets US military over baseless hurricane ‘weather weapon’ claims

"...A vigilante militia notorious for its patrols on America’s border with Mexico has threatened to take on the US military in recent weeks, with its founder baselessly claiming that Hurricane Helene was deliberately caused by a government energy weapon that needs to be destroyed, according to private and public Telegram chats...."

Some experts argue the saturation of #online #conspiracies could translate into dangerous offline actions. A large quantity of voter-fraud #propaganda might prime the public to distrust the outcome of the #election, for example, laying the political groundwork for #GOP leaders to challenge the results.

Individual pieces of election #disinformation could inspire physical or digital attacks against poll workers, election officials or immigrant communities.

"Two distinct forms of isolation predict belief in conspiracy theories

Alienation also emerged as a significant predictor of conspiratorial thinking. Alienation...described as feeling marginalized or left behind by society.

Individuals who perceive themselves as outsiders ...may be more susceptible to conspiracy theories,

possibly as a way to explain their marginalization or to find a sense of community "

Certification fights are already cropping up in battleground states

Georgia conservative Julie Adams spread #conspiracies about election workers,
concocted a baseless story about ballot couriers drinking #beer and doing #drugs while hoarding ballots,
and boasted of her contentious relationship with local election officials.

Then, in February, Adams was sworn in as a 🔸member of the Fulton County Board of Registration and Elections 🔸in Georgia.
In one of her first acts, she #sued the rest of the board and the elections director,
claiming she should not be forced to certify election results “without access to all elements of the election materials”.

The dustup in Fulton County is just one example of the election #certification #fights already cropping up in battleground states,
from Georgia to Michigan to Nevada this year.

The would-be assassin was a registered Republican who had recently been donating to Democrat-aligned groups, per CNN and the FBI.

The most logical conclusion is that he was hoping to kill Trump before the Primaries, so the GOP would have to nominate a more palatable candidate. (He obviously didn't understand that Trump is not the disease; he's just a symptom of how vile the GOP is today.)

It's also doubtful Trump would have actually put himself in harm's way, so this was NOT "staged."

So please... Let's stop with the conspiracy theories, shall we? We hear enough of that from MAGAts. Let's not get as crazy as they are.

“study published on Wednesday in Nature has found that using online search engines to vet #conspiracies can actually increase the chance that someone will believe it. The researchers point to a known problem in search called "#DataVoids." Sometimes, there's not a lot of high-quality information to counter misleading headlines or surrounding fringe theories”
