The sudden and unexpected shuttering of mtrx.nz and peertube.nz in the last couple of weeks is a stark reminder of how ephemeral community-hosted services can be. In the absence of third options, people are stuck with technical infrastructure offered either by corporations, or by informal group of volunteers. Who have every right to walk away at any time, leaving the people hosted on their servers scrambling for a replacement.

I found GEO when I was first learning about solidarity economy, submitted an article or two, and ended up joining the collective. Does anyone have any good resources for learning how to convert an existing US #501c3 #nonprofit into a nonprofit #CoOp? Also any general resources for starting and running a local community Co-Op (with a tech focus) would be appreciated!

Spotify is a shared distribution channel for the handful of corporate music publishers who own the platform. It is, in a sense, a producer co-op.
But producer co-op are, from what I've seen, the least cooperative form of co-op. Fonterra is a one. So is Foodstuffs. Both behave like typical, predatory corporations towards their workers and customers. So does Spotify, with its artists and listeners.
