Auschwitz MemorialAuschwitz II-Birkenau. Ruins of gas chamber and crematorium IV.The gas chamber was divided into three smaller rooms and had a total of 236.78 square meters. The crematorium had one eight-oven furnace. Auschwitz Memorial5 December 1944 | A Gehölz-Abbruchkommando was formed at the Auschwitz II-Birkenau. 50 female prisoners worked near gas chamber and crematorium IV & V. Auschwitz Memorial25 November 1944 | The Germans began dismantling of the technical equipment of crematorium II at Auschwitz II-Birkenau. Air-pump engine from the gas chamber was planned for Mauthausen and pipes for Gross-Rosen camps.
