philjreese<p>🦋"Once upon a time, I, Zhuang Zhou, dreamt I was a butterfly, fluttering hither and thither, to all intents and purposes a butterfly. I was conscious only of my happiness as a butterfly, unaware that I was Zhou. Soon I awakened, and there I was, veritably myself again. Now I do not know whether I was then a man dreaming I was a butterfly, or whether I am now a butterfly, dreaming I am a man." - <a href="https://mstdn.party/tags/Zhuangzi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Zhuangzi</span></a>, Ch 2 tr Burton Watson</p><p><a href="https://mstdn.party/tags/dao" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>dao</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.party/tags/tao" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>tao</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.party/tags/daoism" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>daoism</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.party/tags/taoism" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>taoism</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.party/tags/zhuangzhou" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>zhuangzhou</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.party/tags/ChuangTzu" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ChuangTzu</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.party/tags/doist" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>doist</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.party/tags/taoist" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>taoist</span></a></p>

Author-ized L.J.<p>How wonderful is existence, to be one of the many emanations of a world always longing to know itself again whether in the skin of a frog, a rock, a rose, the sky, or me! We give and take and feel and think and breathe in all in our infinite variations and ever-living connectedness. Each of us has never been before and will never be again, and through us the world delights anew.</p><p>And what sweet, dark peace when this form, too, crumbles away, like a wave upon the rocks spraying back into the vastness it was always part of. What bone-deep surrender in relaxing back into the Oneness, releasing that lovely fleeting illusion of individuality like a butterfly that you may admire and enjoy, but never clutch in a crushing grip. </p><p>Bless the illusion that is life and the dream that is death! What is has always been and always will be. You are One and never alone, vaster than the limitations of your current form could ever dare to understand and you are forever. <a href="https://writeout.ink/tags/TootEssay" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TootEssay</span></a> <a href="https://writeout.ink/tags/Buddhism" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Buddhism</span></a> <a href="https://writeout.ink/tags/Daoism" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Daoism</span></a> <a href="https://writeout.ink/tags/mysticism" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>mysticism</span></a></p>

nathanlovestrees<p>When I first learned about <a href="https://disabled.social/tags/daoism" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>daoism</span></a> almost 20 years ago, there was one concept that had an outsized influence on me: wuwei, sometimes translated as nonaction or non-doing. </p><p>It took me that whole time to realize my understanding of it was all wrong. Not only was that translation incomplete at best, it actually strengthened a burgeoning anthropocentrism I didn't realize was there.</p><p>Yard work and <a href="https://disabled.social/tags/IndigenousKnowledge" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>IndigenousKnowledge</span></a> finally made me realize the error of my ways. </p><p><a href="https://link.medium.com/5t3PJmn9Dzb" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">link.medium.com/5t3PJmn9Dzb</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p>
