Total Sonic Media<p>This is some bs. If AOSP development is made less publicly accessible it does NOT " simplify things for developers" but rather it hinders it for de-googled privacy respecting ROMs and their device ports. The need for continued and ramped up efforts developing alternative mobile OS's, like Ubuntu Touch, Sailfish OS, Droidian, Mobian, Postmarket, etc. is even more apparent with this move by Google. <br><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/linuxmobile" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>linuxmobile</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/degoogled" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>degoogled</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/android" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>android</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/aosp" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>aosp</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/ubuntutouch" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ubuntutouch</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/sailfishos" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>sailfishos</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/mobian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>mobian</span></a></p><p><a href="https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2025/03/google-makes-android-development-private-will-continue-open-source-releases/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">arstechnica.com/gadgets/2025/0</span><span class="invisible">3/google-makes-android-development-private-will-continue-open-source-releases/</span></a></p>

Micah Ilbery :neofox_cofe:<p>Getting very tempted to install GrapheneOS or Lineage OS on my pixel and see how far I can get without a google account and without pulling all my hair out. Most of the apps I use I can get without the play store, and I self host most of my own services. At this point I don't really use google for much of anything except Google Fi. I'm thinking if I activate a physical SIM for it before I flash my phone maybe it would work? idk.<br><a href="https://ilbery.family/tags/degoogle" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>degoogle</span></a> <a href="https://ilbery.family/tags/degoogled" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>degoogled</span></a> <a href="https://ilbery.family/tags/GrapheneOS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>GrapheneOS</span></a> <a href="https://ilbery.family/tags/LineageOS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LineageOS</span></a> <a href="https://ilbery.family/tags/android" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>android</span></a> <a href="https://ilbery.family/tags/pixel8" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>pixel8</span></a></p>
