All industries would face unique challenges, he said. For #electronics, moving #production could be #slow & #costly. For #retail & #consumer #goods that try to keep costs low, inventories could fall & consumer #prices rise.

So over the last few days I've been taking a cross-country trip by #train, and while #Amtrak is a national treasure, travel has been marred by frequent #delays, as we've had to pull over numerous times to let #freight trains pass or been stuck behind a slow-moving freight in front of us.

I've been trying to figure out why today's train has been constantly on time and occasionally a little early, and it just now occurred to me: today is Sunday. Freight trains usually don't run on Sundays.

Set aside high-speed rail for a moment; if Amtrak had dedicated rails it could be this reliable all the time. And by rights it should be.
