Anyone with #LibreOffice experience that knows how to style images using the context "styles" pallet? I have good success with the text styles, but applying a style to multiple graphics causes them to ignore the aspect ratio. Even with that setting selected. I suspect the context style has a fixed size for height and width regardless of the size of the image it's being applied to.

Also, can I be sure each image has it's local properties cleared?

Today is #DocumentFreedomDay!

The first rule of Document #Freedom Day is that we talk about open #document formats and tools that allow documents to be accessed, edited and shared by anyone, without restrictions or reliance on specific software or vendor lock-in.

I wrote the post below to talk about the #free and #open formats and #opensource tools that I am using for the #writing #typesetting and #layout of Return of the Ripper.

What are some of your favorite #Open #Document formats? Do you use #csv, #ical, #html and #css, odt, xml, json, #wav, #flac regularly? What #Free formats do you rely on? You can also use plain text files for a variety of functions from telling stories and taking notes to creating #todo.txt or similar files or #emacs org mode files. Have a favorite use for plain text files? Share it with us. Join us in celebrating #DocumentFreedomDay on March 26, 2025. #DFF #FLOSS

Hey #AskFedi / #HiveMind,

I've been given a zip file full of JPEGs of pages of a #document. I asked for a scan, and was given photos. The photos are ok, but some of the pages are curled, more than the GIMP perspective/3D transform tool can correct for.

Are there any good document scanning programs for #Linux that I can feed a stack of JPEGs to and get a usable #PDF out of? It has to be able to handle some perspective and page curl issues.

Hey #library / #archives / #oralHistory friends!

I'm teaching a new #class "Solidarity Memory Work"

We'll learn about #solidarity #movements in allied professions (academic history, journalism, etc.) then discuss (1) how to actively #document and #preserve current movements and organizations, and (2) activate that #records already in #collections to motivate and guide contemporary organizers
