Another #DoubleFeature of both a film and a #Documentary about it.

How I haven’t seen the film is beyond me. It has many actors I love, all doing great work, with excellent dialogue, and lovingly spoofing a genre I adore. Bliss! Everything is so well done.

The documentary is also good, with some wonderful insights into the development of the film’s creation. Clearly a labour of love for the documentarian and the fans, and worth your time.

★★★★☆ / ★★★☆☆

Another particularly silly #DoubleFeature: all together it was 2½ hours of very early SF cinema.

The science in the first film was awful, and the plot involved every ‘females are sneaky and evil’ cliché in the book. The production values were bad as well.

The story of the second — written by Ray Bradbury — was much better and spoke to how Authority reacts to new things from outside [SPOILER: badly]. No 3D, it was colourized.

Okay: ★★☆☆☆ and
Pretty good: ★★★☆☆

A very silly #DoubleFeature for this evening, and both pictures I’ve had on my ‘wish to watch’ list.

The first was “Rodan,” possibly the first Kaiju film in colour (certainly that I know of). Thin plot as excuse for volcanoes, æroplanes, & explosions.

The second was “The Assassination Bureau.” A thin plot as excuse for European travel, Edwardian clothing, & explosions. Also, a zeppelin.

While entertaining and fun, neither are necessary viewing.

★★★★☆ for both

Both suspenseful, elegant horror movies w/ strong performances, a retro feel, & fantastic soundtracks. And they're different enough & equally compelling, so you'll stay enthralled.

(Using the Cavity Colors' awesome shirt design for THE GUEST image cos it's much more effective in showing the tone of the film than the rather lame official movie poster.)
