#Wildfires, including the #EatonFire & #PalisadesFire, have significant repercussions on #marine #ecosystems. The ash & debris from these fires can enter waterways & eventually the #ocean, altering nutrient levels & fostering conditions favorable to the growth of harmful #AlgalBlooms. The #toxic byproducts from these fires can exacerbate #OceanWarming, further promoting the frequency of these toxic blooms. This can lead to increased production of #DomoicAcid.
#DomoicAcid is a potent neurotoxin produced by certain phytoplankton species, which are significant contributors to harmful #AlgalBlooms. These toxins accumulate in the tissues of #MarineMammals & other #wildlife consuming contaminated prey. Recent changes in #ocean conditions,…intensified by #environmental factors such as the #EatonFire & #PalisadesFire, have accelerated the proliferation of these harmful algal blooms.
Via LA County CJIC: It is illegal to raise prices by more than 10% during an emergency. This law extends to rental property and essential goods and services.
To file a complaint visit dcba.lacounty.gov or call (800) 593-8222.
…..and the city of Pasadena just gave me a parking ticket for dropping off baby supplies at a church for families recovering from the #EatonFire. Jesus fucking Christ.
What in the entire fuck is this about.

Long but well worth watching. Sobering. Urban conflagrations (e.g. January's fires in L.A.) *cannot* be fought the same way as wildfires in forests, grasslands, etc.
Also, this is *not* just about California!
So I got word the school I was doing music therapy with the babies will not be reopening because of the #eatonfire. The owner, a former teacher of mine, is making the choice to retire. I don’t blame her. She’s been active since I was a kid.
So I went and sat in front of the school today. Just to say goodbye.
We’re gonna be fine. It just sucks for right now.

1.0 inches/hour+ rain rate in my part of Ventura County at 1:30am 3/13/25. if this system performs this way going through the Palisades Fire and Eaton Fire burn scars, will definitely be issues. #EatonFire #PalisadesFire #rain #CAwx
#EatonFire burn scar with possible 1.58 inches in 3 hours above Altadena per HRRR. #CAwx #rain #flooding
#PalisadesFire and #EatonFire burn scars look to start getting the worst between 1am and 2am 0.5 to 0.6+ inches per hour, which is well over burn scar flooding thresholds. Head's up in Malibu, Pacific Palisades, Altadena. #CAwx #rain
2 months since the #eatonfire. Still haven’t found secondary employment. Starting to panic. Capitalism is a toilet skidmark.
