#Arctic #warming could pose a threat to America’s #security too: #Alaska may have new vulnerabilities to both #China & #Russia; changes in #ocean salinity & temp might interfere w/ #submarine detection systems; extremes of climate change, including #permafrost thaw in Russia, may drive #economic #instability, social #unrest, & territorial claims. [#Trump #Intelligence Agencies excluded #ClimateChange from the annual #ThreatAssessment report for the first time in decades — too *woke*]

A new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the #IsleofMan and #Liverpool City Region aims to strengthen #economic, cultural, and political ties. The agreement focuses on areas such as business, #tourism, #transport, #health, #energy, and public services. The regions share a long history, enhanced by the opening of a new Isle of Man #ferry terminal in Liverpool, which generated £3.2m for the local economy. This MoU is seen as a significant step towards fostering growth and development through increased collaboration. Both Mayor Steve Rotheram and Isle of Man Chief Minister Alfred Cannan highlighted the importance of closer economic ties and mutual benefits. The agreement also includes an annual conference, alternating between the two regions, and will be reviewed regularly to expand cooperation. With strong business links, including £2bn of annual trade, the partnership aims to open new opportunities for innovation, investment, and community development.

@davidaugust
so its is sort-a like whats happening in the #USA right now.

#conservatives took over in 1980-1992, huge #economic mess.

#liberals cleaned it up in the 1992-2000

conservatives took over in 2000-2008, huge eco mess.

liberals cleaned it up 2008-2016

conservatives took over in 2016-2020, messed it up again

liberals cleaned up some of it 2020-2024

now conservatives are messing it up again by destroying the actual systems that we use, #healthCare, #education #environment.

@kevinrns @mcc

I would not want to be a stockholder in Lockheed Martin right now. The felon-in-chief down there seems to have unintentionally cut the possible market for the F-35 to just the USA practically overnight. It's probably a really good day to be a Saab stock owner.

Unless he plans to allow sales to Russia and North Korea. I wouldn't put it past him, but the leaders of those countries aren't stupid enough to buy it.

well yes #donaltrump just as his predecessor mostly care about #money

so when #globalization (u know selling companies off to foreign countries mostly #China dismantling whole factories shipping them to #China) was good #money #economic policy of #USA was #globalization

now #China won that game

so now #USA #America #TheWest realizes: this game SUCKS (ok told u 30 years ago but whatever)

and try to turn back the wheel to the 1960s if they turn too far we might end up in 1933

nothing get's build anymore in #USA except sometimes a great song like this #trump #song #music #lol

Ukraine is the front line in battle against #OligarchicCapitalism

War in #Ukraine not just fight for national sovereignty, it’s a battle at crossroads of collapsing global order

#War exposed an #economic system that has concentrated #wealth, #power, decision-making into the hands of a few

Will this war serve as yet another chapter in story of #oligarchs & corporate elites profiting from conflict while ordinary people #suffer?

@Leah He's just getting started. By the time this is over, the national #debt will have ballooned enormously, and an #economic #recession (or #depression) will take hold. Internationally, the #dollar will be weak, and—perhaps worst of all—economic powers will be strongly considering replacing the dollar as the world's reserve currency (if they haven't done so by then already).

Most Americans don't appreciate the value of having control over what amounts to the common currency of world markets. When a country like, say, Brazil has to pay its international creditors, they can't just write a check. First they have to obtain enough US dollars to cover their payment. That boosts the value of the dollar, thus making our own debt less expensive for us to pay.

Additionally, unlike Brazil, in a pinch, if we are really struggling with debt, we can (ta da) simply issue more money! That has a strong downside, of course, but we're alone in having the power to do so.

" #DonaldTrump is hurting the #American people. The #DOGE cuts are not only waging war on #jobs, they're also harming the American public and undermining the #safety, #health, and #economic well-being of everyday #Americans. And by cowering to his favorite bully in #Moscow, #Trump is prepping the #US to be a subservient partner of #Russia."

A sign of #economic turbulence—

‘Car owners are missing their monthly payments at the highest rate in more than 30 years.’

Catalysts:

🔘 A slowing economy

🔘 The ongoing effects of inflation

🔘 Rising car prices

In addition, consumer debt is surging while consumer confidence is declining.
