Via Kyle Griffin:
Rep. Jamie Raskin & Sen. Richard Blumenthal have intro’d legislation to enforce the Constitution's explicit language banning foreign #emoluments by prohibiting the President, VP, Cabinet officials and Members of Congress from accepting payments from foreign governments without first obtaining the consent of Congress.
Officials would be prohibited from accepting foreign payments without Congressional approval during the entire time in office and for two years after leaving.
The legislation is welcome, but late, & will get few R votes. #TFG may not have been elected if...
Dems introduced leg. that'd prohibit US officials from accepting$, payments or gifts from foreign govts w/o congress. consent, their response to a yearslong probe into TFG’s overseas bus dealings.
The proposal would enforce the Const’s ban on #emoluments. Dems say Trump brazenly ignored the clause as president as foreign govt officials flocked to his hotels & properties.
@dworkin
T****'s #cult swoons over the fact he "took no salary" and "didn't NEED to subject himself to all this. He's putting himself thru this FOR US!" Thus, everything else is background noise.
First off, he took no salary to skirt financial reporting requirements, then grifted the hell out of his office (see: #Emoluments.)
#DarthTraitor is hardly a "selfless" man. He famously asked Gen Mark Milley, "I don't get it. *What was in it for them?*" at the Normandy cemetery for WWII soldiers.
@goatsarah
The "He didn't NEED to be president! He's putting himself thru this for US!" crowd is a huge part of why #TheOrangeMenace still has so many loyal supporters.
They don't realize HE WAS NEARLY BROKE before running for president in 2016 (only doing so to boost his profile after finding out NBC was paying Gwen Stefani more than him.)
#DarthTraitor refused a salary simply *to skirt financial reporting laws*, then made a fortune using his office for personal gain. #MafiaDon #Emoluments
We need more of this from Dems:
Oversight Ranking Member Jamie Raskin sent a letter to TFG demanding he returns the $7.8M on his businesses made from foreign governments while President.
We can finally expect a Congressional account of the wealth #Trump finagled from foreign sources while president.

He may have violated the foreign #emoluments clause of the #constitution (Art. I, §9, cl. 8).
Learning the details isn't the same as prosecution. But it's a first step.
Congress is not yet looking into potential violations of the domestic emoluments clause (Art. II, §1, cl. 7).
To me, Trump's emoluments are the least discussed of his many potential crimes.
