As #Felon47, #Fascism, #Authoritarianism and the #Oligarchy creep up on the US and the world, we have to remember the environmental disaster that is upon us.

VIDEO - The world’s coral reefs have been pushed into “uncharted territory” by the worst global bleaching event on record that has now hit more than 80% of the planet’s reefs, scientists have warned.

Nearly half of Americans live in places with failing grades for air pollution, report says.

NBC News reports: "About 46% of U.S. residents — 156 million people — lived in areas with unhealthy air quality that earned F grades from the American Lung Association for ozone or particle pollution."

#Democrats on the #Senate Cmte on #Environment & #Public Works complained in a letter to #LeeZeldin in March that the cancellation of 400 #grants in the name of eliminating #DEI & #EnvironmentalJustice violated several #court orders & terms of #EPA contracts.

In my previous post (👉🏼 climatejustice.social/@breadan) I mentioned that when a canary in a coal mine dies, it means the miners are in extreme danger and must get out immediately.

For us, the canary is coral reefs, and they are now dying.

But where can we go? We can’t escape the “coal mine” we live in.

We have to stay on Earth. There's no running away to Mars, a ridiculous Tech Bro fantasy that will never happen.

So we're stuck here, with each other. But there is some good news. We *can* help each other.

Here is a place to start learning how...

You know about that canary in the coal mine, right?

When a canary kept inside a cage dies, the miners need to get out immediately. They are in extreme danger.

For us, the canary is coral reefs. They are dying now, at a rate never seen in human history. We are in extreme danger.

Capitalist commerce and industry are wrecking the planet's biosphere, tampering with the food chain that keeps us and millions of other species alive.

But not all the prompts steer people towards pro-environmental activities – for ‘worry’, users are asked: “What level of worry is constructive? When am I slipping into excessive rumination?” and for ‘loss’: “How could I pay respect to my feelings of loss?” We can’t just ‘act’ all the time, says Pihkala, “or we’ll burn out, as unfortunately has happened to many environmental activists. We have to take care of ourselves.”
