This #Fig has its priorities right. It looks like a good amount of figs to eat in May. (It should crop large, insect free figs in a small amount in May, a big crop July/August of which 25%+ will only be fit for the chickens, and a small amount of small figs for the humans in December before going dormant).
Fig trees require a lot of pruning (but the wood is safe for food when burned and carpenter/leafcutter bees like the larger pruned branches to nest in).

The problem:
Birds are eating figs in my backyard as soon as they’re ripe. Figs. Ripe figs. Not birds.
I’d prefer to eat them unharmed. Figs. Not birds.
The solution:
There’s an IT solution to every problem. Even more, every problem can be solved with a bit of hardware. Or throwing more storage into it. Believe me. More storage is good.
Hard disk: a nice, green 2TB Western Digital hard drive can surely be used to scare away the birds.
Some T8 torx screws are on the way. Let’s remove them.
Let’s see what’s in it. Shiny plates!
A T6 torx and a ring that holds plates comes off.
See? A beautiful, shiny, round plate. Three of them.
And magnets! Very strong permanent magnets! I already know what to do with them.
… and tiny tiny heads. Will have to make up what to do with them. A scratcher? Camping fork? Some kind of a weapon or a garden tool? We’ll see.

I didn't expect that the most surviving species after the #LaPalma volcano (#Canary Is) would be the #fig tree (#Ficus caria)! Their canopy (in green) emerge from ashes (most tree is below the ashes). #Pinus #canariensis in the background is not as healthy as the fig tree!.

I've forgotten some. There's seeds on a pineapple, and on a Banana. Both are likely sterile but I tried each without success.
Right now, I am growing daffodils from last year's seeds.
I've started one or two pots of all my varieties of tomatoes to see what starts. They should be able to go out in the greenhouse in a few weeks.
I've sort of become a #SME (Subject Matter Expert) in these seed to tree developments.
IE: last year, I only was able to grow 2 peach trees. This year 10 grew. Gave away 4, 1 died, & the rest will be planted at each property when the ground thaws.

Fig with cardamom seems distinctly Christmas-y to me. Very enjoyable now, but no matter what the lid of the jar says, the expiration date is December 26
