Spotted this empty wheelchair at Saturday's Trans Rights Rally at Independence Mall. Whether intentional or not, it's a pretty powerful statement.

If you believe in the First Amendment right to Freedom of Expression, you will stand up and fight for the right of our trans and nonbinary siblings to express themselves freely without fear of persecution or worse - death.

If you call yourself an ally to the trans community, it is important for you to stand up and fight for the right of our most vulnerable siblings to exist.

The time is now!

Sending love to all my Trans family and friends on this Transgender Day of Visibility ...and every other day of the year. Whether you're out yet or not, you are loved. 🫂

My very first digital #zine after making black & white//cut & paste xerox style all my life. I made it for kids and I think these stories deserve to be in full color 🌈

I say I made it for them, but I learned so, so much and had so many realizations while making this zine. A small, bright act of resistance.

N.B. Liberals remove parental consent requirement from gender identity policy for schools
Parental consent is encouraged but no longer required when a student of any age wants their chosen names and pronouns used informally at school, says the document, which takes effect Jan. 1, 2025.

Hey,
If I were to hold a tiny workshop about #gender topics, what aspects would you say I should definitely include?
Lets say the target audience are interested allies without a lot of knowledge about the subject.

I'm thinking:
* Gender equals gender identity. Talking about sex or "biological gender" in humans makes no sense.
* The number of genders is infinite. Thats why e.g. dropdown menus to select a gender make no sense either.
* Not all people identify with any gender. Many people don't like labels at all and that is fine. To others labels are helpful and that is fine too.
* Surveying the gender of people makes sense in studies about gender, otherwise gender shouldn't really be anybody's concern, unless someone wants to share their gender voluntarily (like in an online profile).
* Gender shouldn't necessarily be in Passports, Wikipedia articles or anywhere else.
* If there is "justified interest" in the gender of people, the interest is actually almost always in something else. E.g. for singers you might be interested in the vocal range.
* Even less interesting to you than another person's gender should be their reproductive organs, unless you're about to have consensual sex or planning to have kids together (not through adoption).
* If you don't know how to talk to/about someone you can ask them for their pronouns, but be mindful not to put them in a spot where they might feel forced to out themselves. E.g. asking for people's pronouns in an introduction round can be problematic.
* Every spectrum has an infinite number of dimensions. Just like you can't put people in two boxes you can't order them in a straight line based on just one aspect.
* Some words are discriminatory per se, other words are discriminatory in their traditional uses. E.g. talking about "women" when you are talking about people that can get pregnant is wrong - trans men, non-binary people, intersex people and people identifying with most other genders can get pregnant.
* There is no agender agenda. There is no trans agenda. We all just want kids and everybody to be safe and happy, not to evangelize them.
* You can't prevent gender diversity - you can only prevent people identifying with a gender diversing from the binary to feel and be safe, accepted and happy.
* There is no norm or "normal" when it comes to people - there is only normativity, which is harmful.

That's all I came up with for now. Gotta go eat now but I'm sure I'll think of a lot more important aspects.

Oh and please also tell me if you disagree with something I wrote or think I might not have used the best wording.

Thanks
