To this day it remains unclear if Clydesdale's body was just responding to the electrical current or whether he was somehow not quite dead and had been revived by the experient, only to be killed by Jeffray.
Perhaps not surprisingly, this was the last time dissection after exection was used as a punishment in Glasgow. Jeffray continued his distinguished career until his death in 1848, which, rather bizarrely also included inventing the chain saw!
