From today's walk, which happened to be a visit to Ferry Meadows Country Park (P'boro):
1. The first winter aconites and snowdrops I've seen this year
2. Crocuses growing wild beside a path
3. Gorse in flower
ps - lots of birds, too, including a great white egret and loads of tufted ducks.

Beautiful bright gorse flowers seen in sunshine today, ahead of the next storm, due tomorrow.

An old print today. This is Tin Mine from 2018, a three colour screenprint.
It's inspired by Cornwall (where are all the Cornish people on Mastodon?) and is quite abstract.
this article is over a year old, but i've only just found it because i love seeing the #gorse all over our local hills & i was wondering if it's edible. a scottish government research programme has shown that it has loads of protein & could feed millions of humans.

The gorse is looking absolutely gorgeous at the moment. When there is such bright sun on them the colour is so strong it looks unreal.
Furze / gorse / whin looking across to Ben Nevis on today's lunch break.
Given the plant's sweet smell, I used to wonder if it was the secret ingredient in Drambuie...
“Ulex (commonly known as gorse, furze, or whin) is a genus of flowering plants in the family Fabaceae. The genus comprises about 20 species of thorny evergreen shrubs in the subfamily Faboideae of the pea family Fabaceae. The species are native to parts of western Europe and northwest Africa, with the majority of species on the Iberian Peninsula.”
‘Whins’ we call it. It is around a lot. It’s one of the colours of Skye. It’s just so yellow.
