Finished #knitting this Flax sweater. Started #spinning the yarn for it in August last year. One single was a multicoloured bamboo/merino, the other one a solid blue Shetland, twined together into a lovely soft fingering yarn. #handspinning #handknit

Fossil Fibers launched a Studio Ghibli themed fiber collection for April / May (planned before the recent AI-driven Ghibli noise). I love some of them - Howl, Haku, Ponyo. But the one that got be to buy was the soot sprite kit, because I can think of all kinds of fun ways to combine these. Goal of 5 minutes a day of fiber arts seems so much more approachable when all I have to do is sit down at my wheel, grab the roving that’s already there, and start spinning. Even if I only do it for 5 minutes, it’s better than nothing, and it feels productive and calming. It’s not that picking up a small knitting project or my supported spindle is difficult - it’s just that the barrier to sitting at my wheel is so low, I barely even have to think about making time. #HandSpinning #FiberArts

Spinning my “Flannel Weather” rolags from Hikari Handmade, looking significantly different than I expected, but still lovely. I've been dyeing some new wool using several shades of kool-aid. This is 8 oz of blue-faced Leicester. I doubled the strand of roving, and poured my dye to make a long gradient. Image hidden because it looks like it could be a pan of guts, but it's just wet wool. Very pretty once you know what it is. #spinning #handspinning #handmade #dyeing #Koolaid

I've been cursed since childhood with that lovely trifecta of #heds #pots and #mcas. Healing slowly but surely.

The other morning I was thinking about the possibility of making supported spindles out of metal (instead of wood or 3D printed polymer) - machining them I guess? I imagine a nicely shaped shaft, and a disc of some sort for the bottom weight, possible threaded on the shaft and on the disc to allow the discs to be changed out as desired. That’s the simple version, before adding cool features. #spinning #handspinning #metalwork @LilPecan @JamesK

I have gotten good enough with a supported spindle now that I can spin under the desk while on a teams call with the camera on. If you work with me (you know who you are) please don’t tell anyone ! I won’t do it often because I still need to be able to take notes and present and talk but it’s nice to know I can. Really helps the ADHD. #spinning #FiberArts #HandSpinning
