Maria Langer | 📝 🎬 ⚒️🛥️<p>The book I was enjoying has turned into one of those where the protagonist has to clear her name after the antagonists have published lies about her. I find that plot device tiresome.</p><p>I'm reading the book as a judge for a competition and I'm trying very hard not to let this personal preference influence my views on the book. The writing is pretty good and the world building is excellent. It's an interesting book in many ways. One of the reasons I'm reading it is because it's one of the first examples of a <a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/mystery" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>mystery</span></a> novel. MittenGirlPeach 🐅 ⚾️<p>I want to share a terrific used book source with everyone on this Monday morning. I seldom buy new books other than for gifts as I mostly use my library, but I do order used on occasion through Amazon. No need to though. ThriftBooks has over 13 million titles, free shipping over $15, delivery within a week, and a buyback program. Independently owned, and I can vouch for the iOS app. First order is on its way. <a href="https://www.thriftbooks.com/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="">thriftbooks.com/</span><span class="invisible"></span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/books" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>books</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/bookstodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>bookstodon</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/iamreading" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>iamreading</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Today" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Today</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/November2024" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>November2024</span></a></p>
Michaela Maya<p>It's 2024 and I feel myself get ever more tired of creative-writing-how-to-books written by men that only seem to draw their examples and conclusions from a small pool of fiction written by (mostly dead) white cis men. I'm not interested in this narrow view on the topic, and I would appreciate advice that is more encompassing and diverse. Anyone got any reading tipps for me? <a href="https://mastodon.wurzelmann.at/tags/iamreading" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>iamreading</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.wurzelmann.at/tags/iamwriting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>iamwriting</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.wurzelmann.at/tags/books" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>books</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.wurzelmann.at/tags/fiction" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>fiction</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.wurzelmann.at/tags/FictionWriters" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FictionWriters</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.wurzelmann.at/tags/bookstodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>bookstodon</span></a></p>
